They may be great for a couple’s night out, but I wouldn’t book their event spaces again. They sat us in a section of the building that didn’t seem to get any heat, almost all of us were directly against an exterior wall with windows while outside temps dipped below 20 degrees. There was a considerable lack of direction from any of the wait staff even though things were supposed to be coordinated beforehand via email and multiple phones calls. I should have known, however, because communication was spotty. We were also served at different times, some in our party were able to finish their meal before others were served. Lots of us were served cold entrees. For a party of 60 we had what I assumed was 1 dedicated server and the front of house manager, who often needed to leave us so they could attend to the regular guests in the restaurant. Most of us never ordered the drinks we wanted because we saw how overwhelmed our only server was. I will say that the portions of food were huge, and many people took leftovers. They also did a great job of accommodating dietary restrictions and explaining the menu beforehand.

My wife and I frequent Beer Styles in West Des Moines on Sundays. They have a happy hour that is $2 off Iowa beers and $5 wines and the wines are healthy pours.
The main reason we come here is for the pizza and there is a specific one that we come for, the bianco–salsiccia. It is very close to a New York style crust and bottom, if you crease it doesn’t flop and the crust crunches. It is absolutely amazing.
We also like to get the full size Bavarian pretzel that is house made (not sure if the pretzel balls are). It comes with beer cheese and grain mustard and is also amazing. No pictures of the pretzel as we are cutting calories and didn’t order it this time (sigh).
We haven’t tried much of the other foods because we love these so much.
The atmosphere is relaxing and inviting and the service is very good and attentive.
I hope others try it out.

First time eating here, and we weren’t disappointed. A lot of beer to choose from and a good food selection. We had the Bavarian pretzel which was really good, especially the beer cheese dip. The pub burger was good and cooked to a great v medium. The only thing about that was the smoked jalapeño on top was cold. Lastly, food wise, the tortellini was very good and rich. Staff was all friendly and quick to get what we needed.

Love the beer variety!! This is a favorite spot for me! Always have new brews! I’m a particular fan of the sours & they always have new ones! Bar staff are awesome! Brunch is probably the best food they have! Check them out on Saturdays & Sundays 10am – 2pm! Great options & delicious!

Came with a friend on a very quiet Sunday evening (I tend to like places when they’re less busy). Burger and fries were tasty, service was prompt and pleasant, and beer was fresh. Very pleased overall.

I was looking for a unique place with a plant based option in the Des Moines area. They had a really delicious vegan sausage pizza and hummus. The dough they make has a really nice chew to it, and it is cooked to perfection. Along with the really tasty food, they also have 100 beers to choose from. There are lots of local beer choices from all around Iowa. They also have crowlers that they will fill and cap for you at that moment. If you’re in the area, give them a try.

My husband and I recently discovered beer styles and were quite excited about the menu . We have been there several times and have always enjoyed their food and beer selection. We almost always get some combination of their fried chicken sandwich, mushroom fries, and spinach burrata and have always enjoyed their food. We recently picked up their chicken sandwich with a side of fries and when we got back home to eat it, most of the chicken was over burnt. I have a picture attached of what the chicken sandwich looked like once we removed the burnt bits. When I called and asked for a refund, the lady over the phone checked with their head chef who said that it is expected that their chicken sandwich when fried turns into a darker color but that doesn’t mean it’s burnt….we have had this sandwich many times before and have never had this issue and I for sure have no reason to scam them for their money. Half of the fries were burnt as well; she told us that she didn’t see anything wrong with the fries when she packed them. We would truly know what the fries taste like since we actually tasted them instead of a visual inspection. Very strange that they were making it seem like we were making this up (didn’t ask for pictures or any other details). This is not the experience I was expecting and I will never go back.

Yes we have had pleasant experiences in the past with Matt. This place also serves Sudwerks beer all the way from my alma mater in Davis, CA! I don’t see that in too many places. Unfortunately there seems to be some misunderstanding since we were never offered a refund. She did say that she can have the manager call me if I leave my name and phone number but she didn’t indicate that it was for a refund but more so for me to make my case again, which at that point I was not interested in leaving my personal details with little hope of resolution.

Attended a pop-up brunch by Chef David Baruthio. Every facet of the visit was great–from the booking to the food to the staff. Looking forward to our next meal here!
