I moved to Elgin from Chicago nearly 40 years ago. I grew up on Chicago hot dogs and beef’s. Beef Villa serves the traditional Chicago dog’s and beefs. In fact all their food is outstanding. I moved out of the area about 10 years ago, but today I was in Elgin and stopped in at Beef Villa on Larkin for a combo sandwich. I’m happy to report they are still killing. The combo was great, the service was just as great. I have tried them all east of Chicago, none compare to Beef Villa, not Beef Shack, not Buona, not Tom and Jerry’s, not even Mr. C’s and Big Sammy’s and certainly not Portillo’s, These places have good food, but not Beef Villa good. Beef Villa is the bench mark for Chicago style hot dogs and Italian Beefs east of Chicago.

Order a polish and they gave me a hot dog. Told the staff and they tell me “no thats our polish” while barely looking at it. It had all the ingredients of a hot dog and tasted like a hot dog so guess I’m stupid now like I dont the difference between a hot dog and a sausage. Normally i wouldnt complain but I didnt get what I paid for and they didnt care to fix the error. I wish I can post a picture because it’s clearly a hot dog. Complete laziness. Overpaid for a basic hot dog. Won’t be back. I should’ve made a bigger deal out of it because that was just rude and disrespectful. Most places will just remake an order they didnt pay for. This place owes me 2 dollars for the price difference. Go elsewhere.

Came here for lunch during break and they missed the hot peppers on the one single item I ordered and they barely even put that much Italian beef in their sandwiches!! Why’s it called “beef villa” and barely put ANY beef in the sandwich. Is there like an Italian beef shortage or what? Made a mistake trying to stay open and try a combo sandwich from somewhere other than portillos. Thanks for making sure I don’t go anywhere else other than portillos for a combo sandwich!
