I had an online order with a variety of different items because we wanted to try a bunch of stuff out. I checked in at the drive thru speaker, and after waiting a couple of minutes at the window, an employee greeted me and informed me it was gonna be a few minutes because there were only three people working. This is a Sunday during lunch rush, not the time you want to be caught short staffed. It took 30 minutes for my order to come out, and the employee was apologetic, gave me some coupons for my wait.
The bag was packed to the brim and already seeping grease out of its bottom when it was handed to me, it was too unruly to check the order for accuracy in my car without making a big mess, so I crossed my fingers and drove home.
The order was missing a chicken wrap and all of the sauces I had paid for. The burger I ordered without mayo (makes me gag, wish I wasn’t like this) was slathered with the stuff so I didn’t even try it. Not to mention it was one of the sloppier burgers I’ve come across. The grilled cheese my wife ordered was the item leaking grease out of the bag, and she only had one bite because of the grease. It’s not so much that the food was greasy, it’s just that the grease smelled/tasted old.
We wanted to sample some sides, so we got fries, onion rings and the cheese curds. I’d had the cheese curds before and liked them, but this time they too smelled of nasty old grease, and weren’t fully cooked. The onion rings were either burnt to a crisp or completely limp and soggy. The fries were okay, but it sure would have been nice to have some sauce to dip them in.
The soda was crisp, and the Oreo shake was actually pretty good.
I hate having to leave reviews like this because I feel like the only thing that’s gonna happen is scolding the staff at the restaurant even though this is a management issue in my opinion. The employee I dealt with couldn’t have been kinder, and I could tell he felt bad about the poor service that is required when a store is understaffed. So I hope management sees this and takes moves to ensure their stores are fully staffed to handle a lunch rush, and that quality control is paid more attention to. But I know that’s not gonna happen and at best I’m just gonna get a generic response asking to communicate with me directly so I can get some more coupons thrown in my face.
How about this, instead: Next time I have a free afternoon and am in the mood to risk food poisoning, and I get the whim to try this place again – Maybe offer a quick, accurate, order with well-made fresh tasting food. That would go a lot further than offering more terrible food for free.
The food is outstanding. The buns are soft and the hamburger patties are substantial.
I love that they have a menu that has more variety than most of the fast food places in town. It’s super convenient to pull in right off of Seth Child and there’s never any trouble finding a parking space.
So far it looks like the owners show up to work everyday with their crew. Unlike other fast food places that have delegated duties to staff that have been promoted to management. The owners are on site and they care about the quality of the service.
The roast beef beats Arby’s, The cod sandwich isn’t as good as McDonald’s fillet of fish but that’s just because I grew up with it.
After reading some of the negative reviews, and this is just supposition but I think these might be attributed to a specific cook they had for a little while. I don’t think he works there anymore. Obviously there’s no excuse for serving people bad food but hopefully that problem is solved.
Give it a try at least once. They have a new 555 deal going on that is extremely affordable. I don’t know how they’re making a profit with it. But I’m pretty sure if you try this place once you’ll be back.
Negative is that food took too long to arrive and they were not busy. Everyone was waiting 20+ minutes for food after ordering. I’m not sure about the drive through line, but inside it wasn’t quick. With everyone waiting that long, no one could figure out why as most of the items are always needed (fries etc).
I hadn’t heard of Beef a Roo before, we decided to stop in and give them a try.
Was not disappointed! Service was fast and friendly, food was great. Went back again and tried another sandwich good food!
