I was looking for BBQ on my way to where I was going and was so happy I stopped here. Conveniently just off the hwy, but when you’re there you feel like you’re in the country.
For years it has been a roadside trailer/stand but they recently built a permanent building w a large porch that makes you feel you are at home with family. So hospitable, I chatted for a bit with the owner. The food was awesome and came out fast, so glad I decided to stop at this quaint spot.
The potato salad was good. Nice and mustardy, tasted like a homemade recipe. No complaints at all. The lemonade though tasted like a pre made mix. It was eh.
Maybe the ribs and sausage could help elevate the rating next time. While the prices are great for this quaint little bbq stop, the flavor just isn’t there compared to others. I’m happy to have finally tried this place after passing by all this time.
No seating inside, cold or hot is outside behind a plastic enclosing kinda thing.
The BBQ sandwich was just a notch above Manwich, what you may expect from sporting concession stand.
The brisket was absolutely insulting. This had to be oven baked using liquid smoke. There was no bark at all but soggy edges. The brisket was super dry with no marbling. Reviews below saying this is tender can get exact same results by simply buying a whole brisket and leave it in oven at 175 for 16 hours. But in Texas we expect wood smoked.
The Ribs were just as terrible. Clearly oven baked with zero flavoring.
The sides of beans and potato salad I would guess are Costco brand or gallons of Hill Country Fare.
The food was so bad, none of us ate more than a couple bites and we threw all of our plates completely full in the trash on our way out.
