Food and atmosphere were great. The castle itself is a cool setting and the meal was excellent. The only downside was the service speed. It took almost 90 minutes from ordering to getting our food, which felt unusually long.

That said, the food was worth the wait. My wife ordered the andouille sausage stuffed pork tenderloin and I had the bacon wrapped filet mignon. Both were cooked perfectly.

Overall, a really good meal. Just wish the wait had been much shorter.

This was the best meal, service, atmosphere and drinks we have had in years. The portions were huge… we had the meatloaf and whipped potatoes with a side of perfectly cooked summer squash and veggies along with the white shrimp in pasta with a salmon white sauce. Both entrees were served with fresh garden salads and home made breads. The dessert we tried was the lemoncello mascpanoe blueberry cake. Delicious. The restaurant was decked out with gorgeous Christmas decorations.

I’ve visited this restaurant multiple times in the past for murder mystery nights and special events, and those experiences were genuinely enjoyable — good atmosphere, solid food, and attentive service. Because of that history, I came in with high expectations for a regular dinner service, which unfortunately were not met at all.

We had an early reservation and expected an upscale dining experience consistent with the price point. Instead, the evening stretched to nearly three hours from the time we received our drinks to when we finally got the bill, with very little communication along the way. The most frustrating part was the hour-and-a-half gap between our appetizers and entrées, during which we were rarely checked on. Several tables around us appeared to be having the same experience, so this didn’t feel like an isolated issue.

When our entrées finally arrived, they were lukewarm and tasted as though they had been reheated. My steak, in particular, was one of the toughest I’ve ever been served at a restaurant of this caliber. Overall, the food lacked freshness and care — not at all what I would expect from an upscale establishment charging premium prices.

There was also a large party upstairs, which is understandable, but the noise level was overwhelming. Throughout our entire meal, all we could hear was loud DJ music and the pounding from people dancing above us. It made conversation difficult and completely disrupted the dining atmosphere.

What really compounded the frustration was the lack of service recovery. Our server did not check in to acknowledge the delays, explain what was happening, or offer any kind of compensation — not even a comped appetizer or acknowledgment of the situation. We ended up spending over $200 for three people, which we fully expected going in, but absolutely did not expect for food quality and service at this level.

I don’t leave negative reviews lightly, especially for a place I’ve enjoyed in the past, but this experience was genuinely disappointing from start to finish. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, because this restaurant clearly can do better — but last night, it fell far short of what it advertises and what returning guests expect.

My husband and I went here for our anniversary dinner. I had my high school prom in the upstairs space years ago, and he didn’t know what to expect at all. We were BOTH blown away by an excellent dinner, a breathtaking environment, and attentive service. After our quiet and intimate dinner, we couldn’t help but explore the grounds afterwards, and not only did we come upon several sweet surprises outdoors, but we discovered the downstairs pub and grill, which was incredibly lively! While we wish we had the means to do their main floor dining far more often, we still know we will be back soon!

We’ve photographed weddings and engagements at Beardslee Castle, and it never stops being one of the most unique and memorable venues around. The place is full of character and every room tells a story. From the dungeon, to the dreamy bridal suite overlooking the garden, there’s inspiration around every corner. Having everything happen right at the castle made the day feel relaxed and connected – for the couple, their crew, and for us too. It’s one of those venues that truly brings the experience to life.

We stopped for dinner and just wanted an inexpensive meal so we ate in the dungeon which is the downstairs bar area. They have a nice selection of available items. You can also order from the main menu also. We both had fish fry which was I believe 18 dollars. We both were very happy with our meals. My bride also ordered green beans and they were delicious! I also had a Tiramisu for dessert. It really was a great experience. The food is very nicely prepared and the prices are reasonable for the quality provided. Draft beer was 10 dollars and liquor prices are in that price range. We will certainly be back

Having our wedding at Beardslee was one of the first decisions my husband and I made when we started planning. Working with Lynn was so easy and she answered all our questions and was always really quick to respond. She made the entire planning process so simple and stress-free.
We originally planned an outdoor ceremony but had to switch at the last minute to inside and Lynn and her staff were so flexible in making the switch and even set up the dining room for photos, moved all the tables for the ceremony, and then replaced all the tables. They were all so accommodating and kind.
We did not rent the entire Castle, but did have the getting room for the whole day and that was super helpful. We also opted in for getting ready snacks and they were amazing. The hors d’oeuvres were outstanding and my guests are still telling me how good the food was a week later. If food is important to you, this is the place for your wedding.
All in all, my husband and I couldn’t have been happier and loved the entire experience of working with Lynn and having our wedding at Beardslee. Truly a perfect day.

Finding a venue you truly fall in love with can be tough, but for my wife and me, this was a no-brainer. The castle theme was amazing, and from the moment we first met Lynn, we knew we were in great hands. She was incredibly attentive, giving us her full attention from day one and carrying that same care all the way through to the big day.

Her staff was fantastic, the food was incredible, and our guests couldn’t stop raving about the experience. The venue itself was everything we could have hoped for, court side made for a stunning private ceremony, the front of the castle was perfect for photos, and the upstairs was spacious with gorgeous lighting. And I have to admit, hanging out in the dungeon with my groomsmen before and after the wedding was a ridiculously cool experience.

Lynn, you are truly incredible. You took so much of the stress out of the process, and we can’t thank you enough for making our day unforgettable. We don’t know how you do it, but we’re so glad you do!

Excellent ambience and food. Well worth the trip. Hey, who doesn’t want to eat like royalty in a castle setting? Maybe a royal spirit or two may pop up as well.

Such a pretty place. Food is great, service was excellent! We lucked out and got the jail cell in the dungeon. The waitress cautioned us that the food may take a little longer to arrive because of everything going on. They had a murder mystery dinner, a high school reunion, and regular dinner service. The place was packed. We didn’t notice anything lengthy about getting our food. In fact, she was so good at her job, we barely had to wait a beat to get our drink refilled. The sour beer was SO good. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great. Even though we didn’t see any ghosts we definitely would recommend.
