Let me tell you something! If you’re looking for a true Cajun breakfast with a great atmosphere, this is the place to be. I met two of my friends for brunch on Sunday, and we thoroughly enjoyed every bite of the food. We started with some flavorful crab claws, though I wish there was more butter in the sauce to dip them in. Overall, I’d give them an eight out of ten. One of my friends had the shrimp bowl, which was delicious. The tomatoes, mushrooms, and other ingredients were all in season and very flavorful. I initially had the soft crab, but it was a bit too oily for me, so I returned it and got the shrimp bowl instead. My other friend had scallops and grits, which were cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed some French 75s and mimosas during a great time. The staff was incredibly attentive and accommodating. Although there was a slight wait, it was definitely worth it. I’ll definitely be returning when I come back. I highly recommend this place.

Bearcat CBD serves absolutely delicious food — I genuinely didn’t have a single complaint about any of the dishes I tried. It was one of the better brunches I’ve had in my life.

That said, the atmosphere and service left a bit to be desired. The restaurant is very casual, bright, and energetic, but it can feel cramped and extremely loud, especially as it gets busy. The service wasn’t particularly attentive; for example, napkins had to be requested more than once, and our latte took a long time to arrive.

We arrived around 8:45 a.m. on a Sunday and were lucky to get a table immediately. Shortly after, a line formed out the door. If we had had to wait, I might have found the experience frustrating.

Overall, the food is excellent, but the combination of slow service, limited space, and the potential wait makes it a spot I probably wouldn’t return to regularly. Still, for a brunch lover who gets there early, it’s definitely worth trying.

We’re from Florida and found this restaurant on TikTok, so we decided to give it a try. The first thing we ordered was the boudin egg rolls, and they were absolutely amazing — definitely a highlight.

For drinks, I ordered an espresso martini. It was good, but it could’ve used some Baileys. My parents ordered Irish coffees, but unfortunately they weren’t hot at all — more like room temperature. When my dad mentioned he didn’t like his because of that, our server seemed irritated.

We arrived and checked in at 10:20 and didn’t get seated until around 11:25, which was a long wait. After ordering our food, it took about 35–40 minutes to come out.

Food-wise, shoutout to the cooks because most of it was delicious. I ordered the hot chicken plate — no major complaints, though the potatoes were cold (still flavorful). My dad ordered the lobster meal and really enjoyed it. My mom got the crab scramble, which I personally wouldn’t recommend. It was very fishy, and when I tried a bite, there was actually a shell in it.

When we mentioned this to the waitress (about 10 minutes after our food arrived), she seemed visibly fed up with us, which was disappointing.

Overall, the food is definitely good, but the service could use improvement. They also charge a 20% service fee for parties over two, plus a 3% health fee, totaling 23%. Personally, I feel like when restaurants do this, some servers may not be as attentive since the tip is automatic.

The experience was okay — great food, but the service really affected the overall vibe.

Bearcat (CBD) location is busy & worth your visit! The breakfast menu is extensive and filled with flavor.

I ordered the steak and eggs – I requested soft scrambled and received well done, but the flavor was good. The steak was just OK but not disappointing. The side of home fries were a bit spicier than I prefer.

My boyfriend ordered the scallop & grits, which was a highlight. I was stopping myself from eating off his plate every couple of minutes.

I don’t think the drinks were worth it (we tried two different ones – a coffee cocktail and another). Both left much to be desired.

The atmosphere and food were fantastic. The server was very knowledgeable about all of the items on the menu and did a great job with making sure we were satisfied. Wish we would have taken advantage of the beautiful day and sat outside. The fried lobster with crawfish sauce was so YUMMY! Pancakes were the best I ever had.

12/10 experience. Could not sing higher praise for Bearcat. Wait staff was extremely nice, helping us with recommendations, food selection and drink selection was perfect, and the food itself was phenomenal. Their attention to detail was outstanding – each of the mugs were handmade with a little bearcat on each of them. The plates also looked handmade and matched the aesthetic. Also, just a cute design all around. Recommend sitting outside on a nice day – we wish we did!!

RUN don’t walk to BearCat!! We found this place when looking for a vegan-friendly restaurant, and they had such high reviews that we were happy to put ourselves on the waitlist and waited over an hour for a table. Please don’t let that deter you – I’m not a line person, but trust me, that it was worth the wait – so much that we went back the following day because we couldn’t stop thinking about the previous day’s brunch. I desperately wish we had a BearCat in Chicago!!! We loved everything we got but in particular I loved the vegan ranchero dish, and their vegan queso. Definitely worth a stop whether you’re a local or visiting town!

First time here! Wait was long but well worth it. We ordered southwest burrito, hot chicken plate and short stack along with chai lattes. All were amazing. Would highly recommend but do keep in mind the wait can be long so go earlier than desired dining time.

This place is so good. I tried the Lobster Daddy with scrambled egg. So good – the lobster is fresh, juicy and crispy, the biscuit is soften with their sauce. It’s a perfect mix when you eat them all together. The food didn’t take long to come which is a plus. Try to come early – this place gets crowded quick. I came at the opening and by the time I left there were lines waiting.

This was easily one of the worst service experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The food itself was amazing, which makes this even more disappointing, but the service completely ruined the experience.

Our server was incredibly rude and unprofessional. She barely came to our table and actively avoided us after we raised concerns. The bartender was also inconsistent—drinks were made differently each time, with no consistency at all.

When we spoke to the manager about the poor service, they refused to remove the automatic 20% gratuity, despite us explaining that we did not receive proper service. The issue was never about the money—it was about being forced to pay for a level of service that we simply did not receive.

What made this situation even more uncomfortable was how we were treated overall. The server ignored Black customers entirely and was rude to the ones she did interact with. To make matters worse, additional charges were added after we asked for the bill—charges that were not listed on the menu.

This was my first time ever leaving a review, but the experience was bad enough that I felt it needed to be shared. Great food does not excuse poor, disrespectful service and questionable billing practices.
