Whether it’s peak summer season or the quiet off-season, The Bear Trapper Restaurant in Bear Lake never disappoints. It doesn’t try to be more than it is, and that’s exactly what makes it wonderful.
The staff, from the hostess to the servers, were friendly, professional, and quick to bring both drinks and food. The atmosphere feels relaxed and welcoming, the kind of place you can enjoy with family or friends after a day by the lake.
The location couldn’t be more convenient, right in the heart of Garden City and close to everything going on. There’s plenty of parking and clear signage, so it’s easy to find even if you’re new to the area.
As for the food, the burger is a must-try, perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and the mozzarella sticks were fantastic, crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside.
Overall, The Bear Trapper is a solid choice year-round and one of the best local spots in Bear Lake. Highly recommend stopping in!

Old school charm, loved it. Good food at a good price. Raspberry pie and ice cream are sooo yummy. Very attentive and service with a smile.

We ordered six different dishes hoping for at least one standout, but unfortunately none were good enough to finish. Flavorless, lukewarm, and surprisingly bland across the board. To make matters worse, despite the restaurant being nearly empty, staff hesitated to move us from a bright, dead-center table to a more comfortable spot off to the side. Service was polite but rigid, and the overall experience felt out of sync with expectations

It’s a cute little place. But it felt like a small little bubble. The floors were grimy. You should definitely look into getting that carpet torn out. It’s kind of gross. Also if I’m going to a cute little hunting lodge like that I don’t want to be hearing the crap pop music that I hear when I turn on the car radio. The music was a little loud and it was very annoying and distracting. You need to put something a little more calm or perhaps a little more nostalgic. The food wasn’t that impressive. You could have included a vegetable with the country fried chicken steak. Not just a potato and a piece of breaded meat. The pot pie wasn’t bad but the flavor was overwhelming with packaged brown gravy and it just tasted like a package of brown gravy. The decoration was okay but everything seemed crowded and not inviting. The bathrooms however were very clean and well kept. The waitress was very friendly. And the food came fast. Would I come back? Probably not.

I wouldn’t eat here again.
Dingy little place, the food was very mediocre but more expensive than most places in Bear Lake. Very dusty dining area and disgusting bathrooms.
The staff were friendly but very rushed.
I saw them ask another diner if he needed more time to look at the menu and he had literally just sat down, and was still taking his backpack off, he didn’t even have a chance to glance at the menu yet.
I also noticed all the staff nonchalantly walking into the kitchen and coming out snacking repeatedly and most were very unkempt.
Paid over $80 dollars to feed my family and no one was satisfied with what they ordered.

Great little place that stays open year round! Glad to have this restaurant stay open off season, as almost all other eateries are closed outside of high season in Garden City. The service started out slow, but it appeared due to few staff. Once we got seated, service improved. Hannah was very knowledgeable of the menu.
We all enjoyed our food. The complimentary rolls with homemade raspberry jam were excellent (as my family tells me, as I’m gluten free). You only get one tho – no free bread refill! I personally like that they offer gluten free bread for sandwiches (and for toast if you come during breakfast). My fam loved the raspberry milkshake! We would definitely recommend this place! Very cozy, country feel.

I enjoy coming here for the past many years for the ambiance. It has a 70’s, 80’s feel to it. Their breakfast is the basic and good. The lunch and dinner food is typical.. It appears to be cooked frozen food instead of freshly prepared. The taste is ordinary, but good. The croissant sandwich was ok, the croissant didn’t taste or feel fresh. The burgers appear to be cooked frozen Pattie’s with nothing particular about them. Food is ok, the experience is great.

We stop here every time we’re in town. It’s a fun, welcoming restaurant with plenty to look at and a great atmosphere. They definitely know how to bring in the tourists in the best way. The food is great, the staff is friendly, and it’s one of those places that just feels right for a family meal or a casual stop during a trip.
Always a good time.

This is a charming and quaint restaurant. The service was good. Being from Tennessee, we had a little trouble understanding the waitress’ accent, but we figured it out. LOL
All of the food we ordered was very good
The gift shop was well stocked with a variety of items. It seems raspberries grow well in this vicinity.

I got The Ultimate Burger and it was delcious. I got my side as tater tots and they had the perfect crunch. The complementary rolls and butter and raspberry jam was delcious. Also tried the fries and they were so yummy. Will be a new go to place for me in Garden City!!
