The food was absolutely fantastic, and so much of it too!!! The wagyu was amazing, and the serving sizes were massive!!
The service was great!!! Yes our server was young, but we had many questions which he answered perfectly! And also when he was attending to other tables we had plenty of other people come and check on us and make sure we were ok!!
The restaurant was not dirty, it was clean and the atmosphere was great! Great music, great lighting and the tables were clean and modern.
Overall a 10/10 experience and it was only just over $100 for 3 people and we had to take home some boxes because there was so much!! Definitely coming back again
P.S even had a call button just in case the servers were busy or inattentive (which they weren’t)
BBQ & Hotpot – Colorado Springs
Our table took over 30 minutes just to get the hotpot water boiling, and all the meat came out frozen solid. The taro potatoes were sliced way too thick — took forever to cook, and I like mine soft.
For two people, the bill was $200, and then they suggested a $40 tip — like, for what? Refilling my Sprite?
That said, the staff was super friendly, and the sauce bar was absolutely banging . I also tried the $40 wagyu beef, but it had a gamey flavor and too much fat for my taste — first time trying it though, so maybe that’s just wagyu.
The wagoon appetizers were great, and overall the food flavor was solid, just overpriced and slow. Everything here is à la carte, so the bill climbs quick.
Apparently, it’s owned by the same folks as Hotpot Story, which I actually prefer — better prices and overall experience.
IF ANYONE’S LISTENING, PLEASE PUT A HOTPOT STORY DOWN SOUTH IN MESA RIDGE BY LOWE’S!!
It’s honestly hard to review, because to each their own — while I didn’t care for the wagyu beef, someone else might give it a solid 5 stars. If they just sliced their taro potatoes thinner for faster cooking, lowered the prices a bit, and upgraded to faster-heating hotpots, this place would have amazing potential.
With a few minor adjustments, it could easily be a 4.5-star spot.
It’s worth checking out both locations as they have very different aesthetics. This newest location boasts a large, family style dining space that includes hotpot AND Asian-style BBQ. You can even do both! The tables allow you to have multiple hotpots and grill so you can do just one style or combinations of either! The menu is generous with loads of ingredients to choose from. The pricing at this location is based on a 2-3 person serving size versus individual portions.
We LOVED the fun decor right upon walking up to the building which leads up a flight of stairs to an arcade just inside the restaurant. *It is worth noting that the open design makes the restaurant fairly loud between the music, other groups of diners, and arcade (which you can hear from the other side of the restaurant).
We went today during what appears to be a “soft opening” – this location is not yet listed on their website and they are still making some small tweaks (eg they may add a dessert option such as ice cream to their menu, they are in the process of applying for a liquor license, the sauce bar tips/ suggestions/ instructions signs weren’t up yet, and they have a large patio that is currently unused but would make for a great outdoor dining space if they are able to mobilize their tables).
Overall, this location is very family friendly, great food, great service, fun aesthetic and we’ll definitely be returning with our kids once they’ve fully opened and settled into the space.
Keep in mind that the point to Hot Pot is to essentially cook your own food so ALL food is considered raw (some comes frozen). You just choose what you like and toss it in, once cooked pull it out, replenish and enjoy!
We only tried the hot pot this time but next time will be BBQ!
