Oak Island is special to us, because it’s where the Bar-B-Que House originated. From the beginning, we’ve focused on providing authentic Southern BBQ based on quality, variety, and value. We hickory-smoke a variety of meats with care each night, resulting in a slow-smoked flavor that’s earned us over 50 awards in the last 10 years. You’ll taste our dedication to affordable flavor, whether you dine-in with us or take it home!
Straightforward spot for Southern breakfasts plus barbecue plates & sandwiches the rest of the day.

So good. Scott is super cool. My guys and I are working in the area and he invited us to eat outside while they are doing renovations. Oh yeah he didn’t charge us! The spicy sauce they make is one of the best I’ve ever had. My wife lived in Memphis for 20 years and has had all kinds of BBQ sauce and she put it in her top 3 ever.

I came here because DoorDash didn’t let me do them justice. I ordered the Big Daddy for my husband. When he tasted the Texas brisket he said, “Oh wow.” The Mac n cheese is creamy goodness and the baked beans are amazing. The hushpuppies are delicious and I don’t want to forget the small arsenal of sauce cups they sent. The way they packaged the food is also very thoughtful, breads don’t get soggy, stuff like that. BBQ House in Oak Island quickly became a new favorite. I’m excited to dine in person.

Yes! BBQ House absolutely nailed it! The aroma of smoked meat enveloped us as we walked in the door. Service was friendly and the food came out quick! I only have pics while we waited for the food. Once the ribs and BBQ pork arrived, we tucked in. The ribs were so tender, it was a matter of sliding the bones out of the meat. Dinner was so good, we ordered extra to take home. Oh yeah, I’ll be back!

What a delightful BBQ experience! We arrived with a party of 6. The outdoor space had wonderful tables to wait. Once we went in, we were greeted by an attentive waiter. The pulled pork was delicious and tender with the spicy tangy sauce. They were out of Mac and cheese and brisket but the food did not disappoint. The 1/2 chicken was fragrant and juicy. The white coleslaw was refreshing. The wings were tender and flavorful ! The fried corn on the cob was my favorite side, with some salt, it was crispy and full of flavor. The hush puppies with honey butter were outrageous!! I ordered the key lime pie which was not too tart, creamy but sweet in a good way. I would recommend this restaurant to any BBQ lover, it did not disappoint!

BBQ, ribs and brisket were very dry and lacked much flavor. Portions were small. Baked Beans tasted like they were from a can. Mac and cheese and Texas toast were very good. Staff was attentive and nice but it was not very busy. Almost certainly will not be back. You are better suited driving a little further to find better options.

The BBQ House is a must when you’re in this area! You can tell that their time and effort goes into the quality of the food and service. They are super friendly and casual and their food is incredible!!! Highly recommend the brisket, pork, hush puppies, onion rings, sweet potato fries, green beans, and Mac & cheese.

We ate here while vacationing with family and had an awesome experience. My brother is gluten free and the waitress was very knowledgeable on what would work for him on their menu, and they had several options for him. Everyone else was happy with their meals, as well. Highly recommended!

Nestled in the heart of Southeastern North Carolina, BBQ House stands as a beacon for barbecue enthusiasts. It’s not just the best BBQ in the region; it’s the best eating experience on Oak Island. The pork is smoked to a tender, flavorful perfection, and the sides are nothing short of spectacular. The fried okra is crispy and golden, the baked beans are rich and savory, and the hush puppies are the perfect blend of crispy and soft.
But what truly sets BBQ House apart is its mastery of sauces. The Lexington sauce is a tangy delight, while the Eastern NC Sauce adds just the right amount of vinegary punch to complement the smoky meats. It’s a culinary craft that BBQ House has perfected, making it a must-visit destination.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through, BBQ House is the place to go for an authentic taste of Southern barbecue. It’s the kind of place that turns first-time visitors into regulars and has rightfully earned its place as the best eating on Oak Island.

Great service, delicious food in a fun and friendly atmosphere. The are lots of older sports paraphernalia around the restaurant as well as great shelves at each table with condiments and paper towels holder as well as several different bbq sauces to try. We had the pulled pork and brisket with green beans, baked beans, sweet potato waffle fries and hush puppies.
