Social Profile:

The bb.q in our name stands for Best of the Best Quality, and that’s exactly what you can expect from every one of our restaurants. Our Korean fried chicken is crispier, juicier, and more tender than anything you’ve tasted before, and our sauces provide an eclectic mix of flavor. Every dish is the result of both longstanding Korean tradition and modern research and development from our very own Chicken University. It’s a tremendous amount of work, but it’s all worth it when you take that first bite.

I ordered the Secret Seasoned Chicken, but when I opened the box, it was just plain fried chicken.

This is a basic order accuracy issue. Customers trust that restaurants will at least check what they are sending out. If you cannot get the order right, it raises concerns about overall quality control.

Very disappointing experience. I hope the restaurant takes order verification more seriously in the future.

My friend recommended I try out this place Korean fried chicken. I’m a big fan of Korean fried chicken and I used to live in Korea. While looking this place up, they originated in Korea and they are a large international franchise. This location and area / shopping plaza has a lot of other restaurants that close early. We came here on a Wednesday night where online they say they close at 9pm. We arrived at about 8:15pm and they said that we can only order take out and couldn’t dine in. It takes about 15-20 minutes for the chicken to fry I guess but it looked like they were already cleaning up. I’m a fan of soy garlic and wanted to try their original wings. We also ordered fries and onion rings. Along with their rose tteok bokki. Everything was crispy but had a spicy taste to it. Even the fries and onion rings. The rose tteok bokki was really good and thick too. They don’t have alcohol yet so no soju or beer and we got a can of sprite and coke. The radishes tasted pretty fresh and we had enough togo containers to eat from. Overall I think the wings are not bad and I can’t wait to try other flavors in the future!

Wait time was average and the service was helpful. I wanted to try different flavors and asked how many options I can choose if I ordered the large order. Unfortunately they only offer one flavor regardless of the quantity ordered so I was advised to order the smaller portions to try out the flavors I wanted. By doing so the cost of my order came out significantly more expensive. I don’t regret doing so it would just be nice if they allowed more than one flavor for their larger portions.

Hands down: bb.q chicken San Bruno is my most favorite bb.q location in the Bay Area. Tonight, my friends and I ate dinner here. We ordered a medium Cheesling wings, medium Golden Garlic, small Mala Wings and Cheesling fries. It’s a given that orders usually take about 20 minutes, but it’s worth the wait due to their phenomenal quality of Korean fried chicken.

The cheesling wings were perfectly covered in cheese powder. The flavor is similar to Filipino sweet corn chips and it fits perfectly with the crispy, crunchy and not greasy bb.q chicken. The Golden Wings are also excellent because it had a similar hint of cheesling, but has more emphasis on their toasted garlic flavor. My friends seemed to enjoy the Mala Wings, but we also devoured the crispy yet savory Cheesling Fries. Whether it’s dine in or to go, we’ll be back again for some legit bb.q chicken in San Bruno!

The chicken here is OK. 8 pieces are $19, 16 pieces are $37. It is a order at the counter type of restaurant. We had the 2x orignal, Gangnam style and soy garlic. $75, with cheesling fries $9 and coleslaw $5. Nothing stood out as great. It was OK. It takes about 25 minutes for the food to be ready. Service from the young counter person was excellent. The table where we waited for our chicken was wobbly. It was annoying.

Very good for Bay area standards, a slight tier from the stuff I’ve had in LA. The whole chicken is a good portion but I wish they offered all flavors in that size and not just 1/4 of their flavors. Service is fine, the guy was watching NBA games on his laptop – I just wish they put it on a tv lol.

The rice cake carbonara is fun, just your filling

We spent a lot but have A WHOLE meal in leftovers

Only get the secret sauce if you like tangy on your wings. I like it on everything else but turns out not my wings lol

Charge me wings price of $18.99 for 8 wings but gave me drumsticks. The wings got no flavor and for most basic fried chicken store, they can’t get rid of the chicken raw taste so the flavor on the outside and inside the meat is unseasoned and for the chicken smell. Big drumsticks with no flavor. Additionally, only one guy works at the kitchen and the cashier was not doing shit to help so it took hella long time like 25 mins for the wings. And the cashier got attitude after I checked up with the wings. Overpriced and unseasoned wings.

Husband is a Korean fried chicken connoisseur and has been to probably every B.b.q. chicken place in Peninsula and South Bay, as well as most Vons, and several independent places.

B.b.q ranks near top for him, so pretty excited that this place opened up. We tried it for the first time today.

Lunch fried chicken special with Secret Sauce is excellent. Maybe needs 25% more sauce – usually sauce coverage is 100% at other locations – but perfect flavor. Fries are double fried and crisp and perfectly salted, even for takeout that went for a 15 min drive.

Rosé Ddeok-Bokki was also fantastic. Smooth sauce with a mix of sweet, savory, spicy tomato sauce. Perfectly squidgy bokki.

Husband quote: “this is an excellent day. The distance to quality chicken has reduced from 32 miles to 3.”

Edit: one update/PSA – PLEASE please do yourself a favor and get the boneless chicken. They are using high quality meat, both dark and light (even light is tender). You also get more meat vs wings!

Bb.q. Chicken is located closer to the Mollie Stones area of Bayhill Shopping Center. Loved that parking was easy. Something smelled a bit rancid in the restaurant, I later thought after smelling the food I got, the strong smell I was probably smelling was the pickled daikon I didn’t realize was part of all the meals. Got the honey garlic wings and the crunch was good, but it somehow needed a bit more flavor. Maybe extra sauce on the side to dip my wings in would have been the trick? Would have also loved to see cold beer offered as a an option for beverages at the restaurant to give it the whole K-fried chicken experience, but hey you can take it to-go and drink your beer at home while also enjoying your K-fried chicken, YUM. Register staff were nice, but the amount of time it took to wait for my order of 8 wings was about 45 minutes, but I guess that’s how you know for sure it was freshly fried and it’s in-demand. So I would say if you want to eat immediately this would probably not be the best option, if you are able to wait I think you’re in for a special treat.
