For starters, we ordered Garlic Bread with cheese, one without cheese, and a large House Salad. The bread was golden and flavorful, and the salad was fresh and generously portioned. We couldn’t resist adding a few sides of cheese to pair with the Cheesy Garlic Bread, which made for a fun appetizer spread while waiting for the main event.
When the pizzas arrived, they were nothing short of excellent. We enjoyed a classic Cheese Pizza, a Pepperoni Pizza, and the Spicy Bee Pizza (a newer specialty featuring pepperoni, Italian sausage, jalapeño, and hot honey). Each pie was perfectly baked, with Bazbeaux’s signature blend of provolone and mozzarella cheeses and their homemade tomato sauce. Everyone in our group found a favorite, and not a single slice went to waste.
Beyond the food, what makes Bazbeaux special is its story. The original Broad Ripple location opened in 1986 in a quirky old house that once belonged to the town’s gravedigger. It quickly became famous for its fresh-made pizzas served on rickety decks by the canal. By 2003, the restaurant moved just steps away to its current location, offering more seating and a larger kitchen while keeping the same whimsical spirit. Bazbeaux’s name itself comes from a French jester who fled to Florence, Italy, and became known for his creativity in food—a fitting inspiration for a restaurant that has won “Best Pizza in Indianapolis” year after year.
The menu reflects that creativity, with options ranging from traditional favorites to inventive specialty pies like the Mediterranean (chorizo, feta, spinach, roasted red peppers), the Quattro Formaggio (five cheeses with bacon and mushrooms), and the Garden (artichoke hearts, avocado, spinach, and ricotta). They even offer vegan-friendly pizzas with plant-based cheese and toppings.
Our total cost came to just over $10 per person, which felt like a bargain for the quality and quantity of food. Between the warm service, flavorful dishes, and the restaurant’s rich history, Bazbeaux Pizza in Broad Ripple is a true Indianapolis gem. We’ll definitely be back—whether for another family gathering or a cozy date night.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommended for anyone craving pizza with personality, history, and heart.
This restaurant is consistantly FABULOUS!!! Also, the leftovers warmed in the oven the next day taste just the same. We love the Colossus pizza. The staff is always friendly, regardless of who takes care of you.
Again another wonderful experience!!! Mooney took great care of us. Our pizza was fabulous as expected!! You really can’t ever go wrong making this selection as a place to relax and have a great time!!
We had a lovely time, Ryan was a s pleasant as he always is… food fantastic as always. Nice and relaxing!!
Fantastic atmosphere and service. During covid they were great at being considerate with rules and relaxing environment!
I couldn’t read the other categories to add stars. Black text on dark mode isn’t readable to these old eyes. Food was really good. Service was really good. Ambiance is a little lacking, but ok. Outdoor seating is available but it wasn’t available because it was a bit too chilly.
