This place is a joke! Overpriced and overrated!

First off… I understand completely that takeout time frames are not always accurate due to the amount of takeout orders + customers dining inside, but to wait an hour on cold food + not so good tasting food + missing food is NEVER ideal, especially when the online order stated “25 minutes!” We showed up at the restaurant 29 minutes after placing the order. We were told it was not ready yet, so we drove around for another 10 minutes. My husband goes back inside and does not come back out for another 20 minutes!

My husband placed an order for 2 pounds of crawfish, 1 Shrimp & Grits, and 1 Bananas Fosters dessert. The crawfish was very much warm, but tough. The dessert saved the day even though it was just liquid with 3 pieces of TINYYY bananas and some ice cream, and as far as my food? LMAO!! My grits were nothing but a small hard-ish block (smaller than my hand even though it is hard to tell by my photo), and the sauce was nothing but a small portion of sauce in a cup the size of my palm and literally a few pieces of shrimp for right at $20! I did not receive my complimentary salad or bread, so I basically paid for a child size meal that was cold, somewhat hard, and okay tasting!!! 3 items cost us right at $50 after tax! I have had more and better quality seafood from Portobello’s in JC!

I understand things happen and how easy it is to forget something as simple as a piece of bread. That is whatever. My issue is not even with the missing items, even though I mentioned it. I just can’t believe they thought that what they sent out was acceptable and fair to the customer. We even had to go purchase utensils and grab some extra food from Fazoli’s just to make up for the lack of what we received. We live in NC, so it is not as if we could run back to our house and easily warm the food up!

This was our third attempt at trying this place, but after the first time and this go around, we just can’t justify paying good money for the experiences we have had. This place sucks. I am sorry!

Was leaving Bristol and scheduled a to-go order ahead of time at Bayou Boys Fresh Gulf Shrimp in Johnson City. It was ready exactly on time. Waited a few min to be greeted and receive the to-go order. Staff was friendly and food was hot. I had requested extra remoulade sauce and nice to discover that I had received 6 containers. While the sauce is more of a thin consistency, it does have a nice light flavor to it (perfect to dip fries in also). Seasoned fries were perfectly cooked and hot. As for the Shrimp Po Boy, I was happy with the size of the sandwich and the amount of toppings. Definitely bring your appetite! The shrimp were large in size and perfectly cooked. The lettuce could be a bit crisper/fresher, but overall, this satisfied the craving I’ve been having for a Shrimp Po Boy. Price paid was very reasonable at $13.68.

Great cajun resteraunt. Our waitress was fantastic. The food came out quickly and they were busy. I liked the alligator po boy and bites. Alligator is slightly chewy but very tasty. The bread pudding was out of this world. If you are craving a taste of New Orleans then you should give this place a try.

Love this restaurant, we went for the first time and will definitely be coming back. The atmosphere and delicious food had us feeling like we were in the Big Easy. As appetizers we started with the Swamp Fries and Fried Green Tomatoes in a Crab & Shrimp Cream Sauce; the fries smothered in roast beef and rich cheese could have been a meal in itself as could the generous portion of green tomatoes which were fried to perfection and the crab & shrimp cream sauce just took them over the top. Our entree choices were Crawfish Etouffee & Shrimp & Grits, the Etouffee was filled with tender crawfish and spiced just right and my husband cleaned his bowl with his bread it was so good. The grits were delicious fried squares topped with plump shrimp and a delicate cream sauce, I had enough to take some home. Our dessert was Beignets, so good with a mound of confectionery sugar…took us back to Cafe Du Monde. The service was excellent and our waitress was so friendly and attentive and the owner stopped by our table to make sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend this establishment to anyone that loves fresh seafood and Southern cooking.

First time here after living here for a year… Have NO idea why we waited! Our dinner was amazing… Seriously BEST shrimp and grits I’ve ever had – including my own. The shrimp were also tender and perfectly done. We also had crawfish etouffe and a cup of gumbo. Wow! Now, after reading reviews, we need to try the rest of the whole menu!
So happy this is here and kudos to the owner/chef for these recipes.
On a side note… Our waitress, hostess, etc were as sweet as can be. We all need to realize that these places are dying for people to work. A little patience goes a very long way. Great Food Bayou Boys!!

UPDATE: I left the same review on their FB page and being honest about the situation instead of them trying to reach out to me about the issue they instead blocked me on their Facebook page….

Went for All You Can Eat Crab Legs and the crab legs was good but some the meat was sticking to the shell.. well when I got the bill I noticed I was charged for extra butters when I asked the waitress/owners daughter I was told you get one butter and the others you have to pay for but was never told that prior…. Then she acts like I’m supposed to know what a joke will never come back again

100% satisfied with every menu item I’ve tried! Bayou Boys never disappoints! Super clean and authentic atmosphere with touches of New Orleans apparent with every glance around the restaurant. Service was amazing by Brandon. He seemed knowledgeable about the menu and the questions regarding shrimp allergies. I highly recommend the Fried Green Tomatoes, Julie’s Crab cakes, Catfish, and a softshell blue crab! Beignet with bananas foster on the side caps off a delicious lunch or dinner!

We visited Bayou Boys for the first time yesterday to celebrate my grandson turning 14. Dillon, our server made sure we had an outstanding experience, complete with the crawfish, or maybe lobster costume. Food was amazing and we left full and happy. Best restaurant and staff ever.

My husband and I had a fantastic time yesterday. Right from the start it was a great experience I gave my waiter a 20 tip in the beginning and he showed his thankfulness through out the rest of our dinner. Our food was fresh and made to order and our drinks were amazing. I would recommend this to anyone who loves sea food!

First off they didnt have a good quarter of items on the menu. My sever was very nice however I ordered a shrimp cocktail and got the these small pieces of shrimp, the shrimp creole was the best part of my meal, which wasnt saying much i have eatem food in Louisiana and this is a very bad representation of the culture. i feel like with the crab boil wasn’t tasty and for the amount i paid for it wasnt worth it. As i was leaving it looked like this guy was waiting to be seated and when i got in my car i saw him walk out. Left there still hungry and disappointed.
