1) So first time at the Bayou Box, and I must say the service at the counter was exceptional and willing to answer any questions. 2) I ordered the shrimp Po’Boy w/Garlic aioli, oil & vinegar, dressed as usual but lite lettuce. 10 out of 10 on flavor, freshness, and all around just Amazing. I also ordered the crawfish etouffee and that was everything I was hoping it would be and more. I definitely recommend this place to any and everyone! Come one, Come All.
P.S. Gumbo served on Thursday but they let us try and the Gumbo was amazing too.

If you haven’t been to Bayou Box Cajun Restaurant yet, you are seriously missing out!
I ordered the shrimp po’ boy with a side of fried okra, and let me tell you — it was absolutely phenomenal. The sandwich was decadent in the best way possible. The shrimp were perfectly fried, golden and crispy on the outside, but incredibly juicy and tender on the inside. Every bite was bursting with bold, authentic Cajun flavor that hit all the right notes. You can taste the seasoning in every single bite — flavorful, fresh, and cooked with care.
And the fried okra? Fried and seasoned to perfection. Crispy, not greasy, with just the right amount of crunch and spice. It paired beautifully with the sandwich and honestly could have been a meal all by itself.
From the first bite to the last, everything was hot, fresh, and made with love. If you’re craving real Cajun comfort food that delivers on flavor and quality, stop what you’re doing and head to Bayou Box. You will not regret it! ✨

The food was delicious! I also had beignets, but didn’t get a picture. My fried okra was perfect. You could tell it was freshly made. It’s not a fancy place. But the best places to eat are usually not. Go check this place out.

We had a sampling of the fried shrimp po’ boy, shrimp ettoufee, muffaletta sandwich, and side of hush puppies. Everything was delicious. Best Cajun food I’ve had in Kansas City! Will be back for sure.

Wonderful first experience here!
The shrimp and grits were buttery, well seasoned, and delicious! Make sure to try a side of the jalapeno crawfish cornbread too.
The fried catfish basket had a good sized fillet and a nice airy batter coating. It pairs well with the remoulade sauce for dipping!

Unassuming counter serve spot with awesome grub! They cook in small batches so they will run out of stuff, but I love that approach personally.

Didn’t know it’s only been open for a week! We went because we were craving some Cajun food. It was sooooo good. We tried the jambalaya (great flavor you can tell they really put time into their roux) and the shrimp etouffe. We tried three of their sauces-all amazing. The jalepeno corn bread tastes like it was made with love. The bayou logs (mozzarella sticks) were soo good. It was about $45 for everything by which is cheap compared to other casual restaurants. Next time we are going to the crawfish ettoufe and red beans and rice and bread pudding, can’t wait!
