I really like Burlingame’s local bagel shop and have been going there for a long time. The bagels are really good, especially if you time it right and they are coming fresh out of the oven. Especially like the All in One (Everything) bagels and the plain ones. Their sandwich “adds” like smoked salmon are good but not great but I usually just take the bagels and add my own Costco smoked salmon or an egg to them so don’t really buy the add on’s. The people who work there are mixed – one lady is really nice, incredibly friendly and treats everyone well. Another is a little quiet and does not give off a warm and friendly vibe but still good and efficient service. It’s more of a hole in the wall like location so ambiance not great but it’s almost entirely takeout – I like it better than Noah’s bagels but not as much as Boichik’s but closest Boichik’s is Palo Alto so best game in town.

Amazing, fresh bagel sandwiches with real eggs and thick bacon. I live locally, and this 25 yr old establishment is run by kind service workers who bake delicious quality bagels!
Many reviews complain about cleanliness or running out of bagels …which is normal for a shop.
If you’re looking for a fast, yummy bite while craving bagels, and not a fancy, sit-down, aesthetically Instagram able mingling spot, look no further than this shop!
The $7 6 pack of day old bagels are also SO worth it!

I ordered a croissant to go, and the experience was genuinely disappointing. On the very first bite, it tasted old and borderline rotten. It was clear the pastry was not fresh, and the flavor was unpleasant enough that I couldn’t finish it. This left me feeling misled about the quality of what I was buying. I expected a simple, fresh pastry, but what I received fell far below basic standards. I hope the store takes better care with freshness going forward.

Unfortunately, I’ve never buy another sandwich from Bay Area Bagels after this week: normally, or in the past (like < 2 weeks ago) each bagel sandwich had high cuts of chicken or meat. Now, they’ve switched to frozen chicken cutlets (pre-breaded). Really, sub-par, low taste, high calorie stuff (usually). I’m amazed: for $11-$12 as of late November 2024, sandwich shouldn’t have frozen reheated chicken on it. Why bother with a fresh bagel? Just get some pretzel dough and volume it up, and serve it to the customers.

Ordered using Uber eats, and the owner/employee (not sure) decided to adjust my price by $4 + taxes making a bagel with cream cheese cost $6+. When I asked why such a big adjustment when I can see that even in the app the bagel with cream cheese costs $4.75, the lady kept insisting that that is correct $4.75 + taxes is $5.21 even though i kept explaining to her that she overcharged.
After several minutes of trying to explain and not getting anywhere, I gave up and hopped at least the bagel would be worth the hassle.
Unfortunately I was disappointed with that as well, with the cream cheese bagel barely having any cream cheese in, let alone enough to be worth $4 + tax.
Overall, food is lacking and service is lacking.

Solid bagels and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Their bagels remind me of Western Bagel in SoCal and taste closer to NY city bagels than Boichik in my humble opinion. If you’re tired of the same 3 Costco bagel flavors and don’t want to break the bank at Boichik, check this place out!

As a native New Yorker who is VERY picky about my bagels and bagel sandwiches, this place is fine. The bagels are what you’d expect outside of NY – not great. That said, my bagel sandwich was enjoyable and stacked high with toppings. Only negative was that it wasn’t toasted like I asked for.
Overall, this won’t be a NY bagel, but for a thick breakfast sandwich, especially hungover, this isn’t a bad choice.

Love the Bagels when they have them available. Went in the other day just before lunch and wanted a dozen plain bagels and 1/2 dozen all everything. Was told they were out of them. How can a bagel shop be out of bagels just before lunch? Has happened to me previously as well. With parking in the downtown Burlingame area so difficult due to the endless construction, I will be taking my business elsewhere.

The staff here is friendly and there’s the usual variety of bagels, but for someone who grew up eating NY-area bagels, this place is incredibly disappointing. Twice I’ve gotten bagels here in the morning, and both times the bagels are harder than an old soft pretzel. Of course the ingredients are gonna be different than what’s in the mid Atlantic region, but save yourself a trip here and go to Posh or Noah’s – at least they’re both a decent West Coast approximation of a chewy NY bagel. Or go get bagels at the supermarket, there’s hardly a difference.

Just Bad bagels, too small, not very tasty. I also realized their smoked salmon was Costco brand which I don’t mind but not sure how long that’s been sitting in the fridge. Also, Got my order wrong almost every time I gave them a chance and ordered. Overall it’s just a disappointment.
