First time we went there, we weren’t prepared to pay cash, and they are cash only, so we ended up leaving, and going elsewhere.
Second time we went there, we had cash, but the place is half bar and half dining room. The bar was crowded, but the dining room was totally empty. We didn’t want to be in the bar with the smoke, so we left again!
Not sure why the dining room was empty on a Saturday night.
On Friday nights, they have all you can eat fish dinners, and I guess they draw lots of people for that.
This place is near the Kankakee River, in the middle of nowhere, so they must be doing something right there. They have been in business probably 50 years! So I guess we’ll have to give it another try on Friday night and try the fish.

AMAZING hometown bar! The bartender made us a fantastic drink she came up with (it was so good, we bought the ingredients as soon as we could) the fried sampler was stellar, and the potato skin special was so good too. We will definitely be back!

We had 3 AYCE Walleye dinners and 1 ribeye steak dinner. We knew during lent, that Friday would be crowded, we arrived around 3:45. Which at that time it was perfect. There were several open tables in the dining room and bar area. The dining room is smoke free and the bar half is smoking. Our appetizers came out within 10 minutes and our dinner came out about 15-20 minutes after that. All 4 of us were very happy with our choices. Our meals were hot and fresh. The people in the party that ordered AYCE Walleye, were ready for another order for each one. Our waitress went missing and we were unable to see her anywhere. We asked one of the 2 bartenders if they could locate our waitress. A few minutes later she came and apologized for being unavailable. About another 15 minutes and our 2nd order came out.
This waitress was so sweet. She explained she was the only waitress at the time, running between both the dinning room and bar, we also saw her making drinks and getting beer for her tables.
This waitress was a Superwoman. Remember to tip your waiter/waitress.
If I could make a suggestion for the owner/management, it would be to hire a couple more people, because some people do not understand why they had to wait, and in turn it affects their tip.
Great food, good cocktails and friendly staff.

While my husband had walleye his friend ocean perch and they loved it! I ordered jumbo shrimp and returned it to the kitchen. It was hard, chewy not fit to eat! However, recommend they’re fries! By bottled water only here!! I had a small dinner salad and it was fine.

One of the only places you can still smoke in… Which isn’t my favorite. We were there an hour maybe but left because of the smoke filled atmosphere. Every piece of clothing we had on smelled of smoke. We weren’t prepared for that. We would have stayed longer if it weren’t for that.
If you’re a smoker… I’m sure you’d love it and give it 5 stars. The place was packed! Good music and atmosphere, otherwise.

My wife n I went for our first time and had I had a walleye sandwich and the wife had a rib eye sandwich! Both were just amazing!! The bar keeper/ server was extremely amazing and on her game!! Thanks Dee Dee you’re awesome!! We’re going to be back for sure!!
