Yesterday was my first time coming to Batter and Berries. The food was absolutely delicious! I got the strawberry french toast, catfish special and my husband got the bourbon french toast. However, it did take a while for my food to come out after a 40ish minute wait to be sat. Anyways, the atmosphere was great and our waitress Taryn was sooo bubbly, sweet, and friendly. The next time i’m back in Chicago i will be returning!

This is a nice little spot. Food was delicious, great atmosphere and incredible service(busy times take longer). They are known for their amazing French toast, so we tried their caramel French toast and highly recommend it. Everything we ordered was delicious. We had to get on the waitlist so make sure to check on the wait time. Plenty street parking available as well.

I had breakfast here two days in a row with my family, and I can honestly say it was a fantastic experience each time. The staff greeted us warmly and were very attentive throughout our meals. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. It’s clear they put a lot of care into both the service and the dishes. If you’re in Chicago and looking for a cozy spot with great vibes and tasty breakfast, this place is a must-try!

OMG! First experience and the food was amazing. I got the super French toast flight with the special of the day being a peach flavor. All the flavors were good. I’m not a lemon person, so that was my least to enjoy. My favorite was the Carmel flavor. I also indulged in the sweet potato waffle with chicken—amazing! We got a side of chicken sausage and eggs. The sausage lacked flavor, but the eggs were cooked to perfection. The fruit was fresh & delicious. Our server stimulated our mind with a couple of riddles. We really enjoyed his service.

Visited Chicago for a weekend of fun, and this place was recommended by a friend. Let me just say I was blown away. Not only is it BYOB the food is amazing. The service was excellent. I can’t wait to go back. My only request is not knowing that it was BYOB. Otherwise I would’ve brought a bottle.

Nice breakfast place but little overpriced lol. I spent $50 on an omelette and sharing a French toast w another friend. If the charge is correct, I never got to see the receipt. Very friendly service.

Food was decent, though a bit over the top with spices. My special of the day — the shrimp omelette — was overpowered by strong flavours and quite salty, which took away from the dish. The French toast, on the other hand, was excellent and definitely the highlight of the meal.
Parking is on the street, paid or free depending on the day and time.
Service was a bit hit and miss. We had to ask several times for drinks, and at first, no one even asked if we wanted any. I ordered a cappuccino (which is on the menu), but the server forgot it, so I eventually settled for tea.
One quirky thing — the server occasionally came by with riddles, which I understand is part of their charm, but sometimes it’s best to read the room, especially when guests are mid-conversation. Some might love it, but personally, I found it a bit distracting.

I can not express enough how amazing this place is! Our server, Lazarus, was very knowledgeable with the entire menu. The manager/owner? Came by a few times to make sure everything was perfect. And it was. I got the French toast flight and it was amazing! Every item was fresh! The bacon, eggs and cheesy hash browns were also phenomenal. If I could give more than 5 starts, I would. Highly recommend!!

I liked the food though all I got was the french toast special, they were truly amazing not too sweet, with the right amount of cinnamon.
Our server was amazing very nice and polite.
Very busy though, wait time was about 20 minutes at around 10am.
Food took some time to be served, it took anywhere from 15 minutes to 20 minutes to be served.
Very loud inside and the restaurant is small, not mentioning it as a bad thing but as something to take in consideration when visiting.

We were looking for a new breakfast place around our area and the options in this place were exactly what we were looking for.

Wait time was about an hour, which seems excessive, but take into account that it was Labor Day and breakfast places that were open were very busy. Nonetheless the hostess was very kind and they were trying to get people in and out as quickly as possible.

Our waitress was incredibly nice tool care of us with a smile and honestly the best attitude, considering how busy it was I wouldn’t have blamed her if she was not in the best mood, but not the case at all.

Food wise I can honestly say it’s been one of the best breakfast places we’ve been to in a good while. The french toast were fluffy, buttery and sweet, not to mention that portions were great. The sweet potato waffle was AMAZING, never had a waffle like that before, and the fried chicken breast it came was was crispy, crunchy and savory. The hat sauce this came with was very fitting to the dish and I enjoyed everything about it.

Great place, amazing atmosphere, and the owner is always walking around taking care of tables, the environment, and the employees. Absolutely worth it!
