I just love this spot! It has great outdoor overhang so you can enjoy time outside even in the rain. They are specialized with dietary options such as gluten and dairy free. They have tasty food. Their bread is amazing such high quality and bone broth. It’s a treat to go there. I will say the price point is definitely higher but for the quality it is superb!

So happy to have found this place! I feel so seen at this allergy friendly spot: gluten free, dairy free, refined sugar free, and seed oil free! That is rare! Come here to eat healthy real food.
It’s a cute little cafe where you order first and then sit down. Bus your table after. The staff is friendly and their menu is excellent! I had a hard time picking what to eat, but I ended up going with the salmon salad. The person at the front said their popular items are the waffles and borscht. Both sound delicious, so maybe I’ll try it next time. Their menu is unique and not the usual selection on a lunch menu, like a deli sandwich. Every plate is presented beautifully too.
They put my large salmon salad on a bed of lettuce and topped it with beets, pomegranate, a radish, and what looked like flower petals/buds. I saved 1/4 of my lunch to-go. My husband had their salmon hash with potatoes, and let me tell you, that egg on top looked delicious. I saw some other folks ordering that, so it seems like a popular item on the menu too. We also ordered the matcha latte with coconut milk and the Bastion pink latte. Bastion pink latte is tasty and healthy (beets, cherry, maple syrup, ginger, and substituted with coconut milk). No caffeine though! I loved my matcha latte because it wasn’t too bitter and not too sweet (I had honey for sweetener), but it was creamy and delicious with the coconut milk. The salmon is excellent, not too smokey.

If I could Bastion PDX every day I would LIVING!! It’s some of the best gluten-free bread I’ve ever eaten!! I’ve tested a lot of breads and this one is seedy, has a fantastic chew, and a lovely crust.
I am obsessed. Their brunch is awesome — chicken and waffles and French toast are top choices!

Food was incredible! Space is limited and weekend brunch Fri-Sun can be very busy, so plan on a (worthwhile) wait if you go at peak brunch hours. The crowd thinned out around 1pm, so we might opt for a later brunch next time. You order at the counter and line can be out the door, so wear layers if you go on a chilly day. The space is small and quarters were a bit crowded with a full restaurant. There is a small outdoor patio with heaters for cold days, and a handful of indoor tables. Tables seat 2-4 comfortably, so larger groups might be tough to accommodate here. Staff were courteous and kind, even when things were bustling. Our group of three all loved our meals! Delicious and beautiful presentation. We will be back.

Bastion has quickly become our favorite spot in Portland. My brother discovered it and we honestly cannot stop coming back. It’s now our go to place every weekend.
The food is incredibly fresh, nourishing, and thoughtfully prepared. You leave feeling energized and taken care of, which is rare to find while still being completely delicious. Everything feels intentional, clean, and made with real care.
The staff is absolutely incredible. Warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind every single time. They make the whole experience feel personal and special.
Bastion is one of those rare places that just gets everything right. So grateful to have this gem in Portland.

This place is amazing! The perfect balance of food that everyone can eat (GF, DF, vegan, soy free, etc) and bacon, eggs, and fried chicken. Top notch pastries, warm friendly atmosphere, and even friendlier staff. Lovely location and tasty coffee if you need to go for a quick walk during a weekend brunch rush.

I love this place! I look forward to brunch here almost every weekend. The food is outstanding. Ingredients are impeccably curated from local sources. And the dishes are expertly crafted to delight the palate. The menu changes seasonally. Today we enjoyed the Chicken Soup a La Pistou and the Salmon Hash. I also love their grain free Acorn Waffles, the Chicken Salad Sandwich and their Avocado Toast. They have indoor and outdoor dining. Dogs are welcome at the outside tables.

Amazing healthy, high-quality gluten-free food! It is deifnitely worth the wait at peak times given the small space can get busy and seating is limited. It was so good that we returned multiple times during our visit to Portland. I also brought back a loaf of their bread which is some of the best homemade gluten-free bread that I’ve ever had.

Stopped in for lunch. Cute place with friendly staff. I love that everything is gluten-free. We shared a butterscotch cookie while we waited for lunch. It was a soft and chewy style cookie.i got a chicken salad sandwich that wZ okay. It was on the bland-ish side. My wife’s salmon bagel was really good and was the star of the meal. The side salads were pretty good but could use a smidge more of the vinegar dressing. I saw that you can buy gluten free bread loaves and we’re planning to come back to buy some of those. The bread on the sandwich was great. We also got a berry smoothie that was really good.

The food is all gluten free which I love! While there is good depth and quality to the menu, flavor is a little lacking. Salt is definitely gluten free too, y’all lmao. Some of the ingredient combos are… strange, but still very enjoyable. The atmosphere is great and so is the service! We will be visiting again to try different dishes!
