Now being gluten free this place had several options and did not disappoint !
We started with the salmon carpaccio. It was so simple yet complex with texture from the fried capers and the layers of flavor! Chef did the salmon justice for sure !
For entrees we had the pork chop (perfectly cooked I might add) and the special of the night pho. Both entrees were great! Bursting with flavor and balanced very well!
For dessert we got the Asian crème brulee which honestly I was a bit skeptical of but let me tell you something it was perfect creamy and light with the perfect balance of Asian spices to take you on a out of this world experience.
The lemon cake parfait was delicious as well light and not too sweet!
All in all. If you can get in to eat here please do ! You won’t be disappointed! We wish nothing but the best for this establishment and look forward to trying more culinary creations next time we are in town!
Eclectic, expertly prepared menu with unexpected flavor combinations grounded in authenticity and bastardized in the best way possible!
Cuisine leans towards Japanese & Korean but offers an admirable array of choices, includes pastas and chicken.
Open kitchen creates a welcoming energy and the friendly staff complements the experience.
A great addition to the growing Downtown Glens Falls food scene!
Sit at the bar!! The chefs, which are the owners, chatted with us on-and-off for the whole night. They, and everybody else working there, looks and acts truly happy to be working there. The open kitchen concept was so cool and we got to watch all our dishes be made.
I was hesitant to get the short rib because I had gotten it at another place the night before. I couldn’t be more glad I did. It was out of this world. The French onion served with it was ridiculous as well. I ate the rest of my girlfriend’s ramen too—insane. The eggs are perfection.
The food itself is nothing short of fantastic—flavorful, enticing, and unforgettable. Every bite feels crafted with care. The drinks are just as impressive: delicious, beautifully made, and full of character.
Everything about this place screams passion, from the people to the atmosphere to what’s on the table. I truly loved every moment of it.
The first thing that wowed me was my drink — a ginger basil lemonade mocktail that was perfectly balanced, bright, and refreshing. It wasn’t too sweet, and the basil flavor came through beautifully.
We started with the Chef’s Starters, and every single bite was exceptional. The shrimp with house cocktail sauce was so incredible my father asked for the recipe to take home to Raleigh! Each bite was carefully crafted and packed with flavor — the perfect way to start the night.
For dinner, my father tried the signature ramen (his very first ramen ever!) and loved it so much he finished the entire bowl. I had the pappardelle with mushroom and beef ragù, which was rich, savory, and easily the best version of this dish I’ve ever had in Upstate New York.
The atmosphere is cozy and thoughtfully designed — from the décor to the plating, every detail feels elevated and intentional.
But what truly sets Bastard Restobar apart is the people. The owners and staff are warm, welcoming, and passionate about what they do. Being able to watch the chef at work and chat with her about the food made the experience feel personal and unforgettable.
I’m so excited to become a regular here and can’t wait to come back to explore more of their menu as new items are introduced. Thank you to the owners and the entire team for your incredible hospitality, service, and food — you’ve created something truly special here.
If you’re searching for the best restaurant in Glens Falls or the best ramen in Upstate NY, look no further. Run, don’t walk. This is a must-visit culinary destination.
I tried the Korean seafood pancake, which was a generous portion, very filling but not greasy at all, and it came with a delicious sauce. For dessert, I had the semolina pudding, which was light and the perfect way to end the meal.
While they don’t offer online takeout just yet, they’re working on it, and honestly, it’s worth dining in to soak up the fantastic atmosphere. I’ll definitely be returning soon!
