Stellar service, food, and atmosphere. We trusted the chefs and were not disappointed with any of their choices. The cocktails were also strong and tasty. Both oyster dishes were unique and a nice dichotomy betweenraw and grilled. The elk, endive, and mushrooms were all stand out dishes. Our main was the striped bass was served with a chili that paired great with the fish. I had the salaryman cocktail, which had Japanese whisky and was well balanced with pear and Murakami sugar.

We came here for our 7th anniversary, which was definitely influenced by the michelin recommendation from last year. This restaurant absolutely lived up to the recognition! The service was top-notch and everything we ordered was divine. We opted to choose the dishes we wanted off the menu, though “trust the chefs” was tempting. The Elk paired with toasted bread was one of the best things I’ve eaten this year! The Okra was such a nice surprise paired with gouda cheese. We had to get Basque cheesecake and mint sorbet for dessert! The drinks were equally delicious! Without a doubt, 5/5 experience!

Best dining experience I’ve had in Houston. From the genuinely welcoming staff, to the food and drinks. The caiman cocktail was the best sotol cocktail I’ve had (and I’m from that part of the world). I “trusted the chefs” for the tasting menu, and the som paired a half glass of different wines perfectly with each entrée. I started with oysters – WOW, as a raw oyster lover, I never expected to love a grilled oyster like this. Both raw and grilled were amazing, and I couldn’t get enough of the pork chop. Service was top notch too, everyone was profesional and friendly; one waiter even ran out to say bye to me since I had walked out while other staff members were busy with a birthday. Price wise, this is reasonable for what you’re getting, but it isn’t inexpensive. Sit at the kitchen counter if you can. I’ll for sure be back.

We celebrated with some friends here. i would say i had some mixed feelings regarding the food. some dishes were absolutely delicious, while other dishes had too many flavors that i couldn’t figure out what i was eating. my favorites were the oysters with chili, duck pate with pear, the crispy whole bass deboned and the SALAD was awesome for such a simple salad!! the steak was perfectly cooked but they could have served it without the additional salt…maybe best to put the salt on the side. the closing dish, dessert, was out of this world!! the basque cheesecake was slightly savory but sweet and smooth!! everyone loves that dessert!! i am certainly coming back but will likely just try the dishes that i loved!! the staff is very attentive and regularly check on you. it’s a great restaurant and i would recommend giving it a try!!

We came here for our anniversary, and the experience was exquisite! This place caught my eye as being Basque-inspired, and everything exceeded my expectations. All of the dishes were top notch, especially the grilled oysters of which we had to place a second order! The pork chop was also to die for. 10/10 treat yourself to the fantastic culinary experience that the team at Baso has to offer.

Every bite was a standout. We started with the elk tartare—beautifully balanced and elegant—followed by perfectly prepared okra (a sleeper hit), and finished with a 19-oz ribeye cooked over a wood-fire stove that was rich, smoky, and absolutely delicious.

Beyond the food, the experience really shines. The space is quaint with genuinely cute vibes, and the customer service is excellent—warm, attentive, and thoughtful without feeling formal.

Refined yet cozy, elevated but approachable. I will add it IS pretty pricey, but in my opinion worth it. Baso is doing it right.

This is the best restaurant I’ve eaten at in houston! It’s somewhat tapas-style so expect to order 4-5 dishes for 2 people. We started with the elk tartar which was delish. Then we got the quail which was paired with the okra. It was fun watching them cook the quail over the fire, and the cheese dip that came with the okra was soooooo good! Then we got the ribeye (again watched it cooked over the fire) and they paired it with the endive. This is probs the best steak I’ve had in houston. The endive mixture of horseradish and pecan/peach wasn’t my fave, but overall this place was amazing. Don’t miss out on this place! This restaurant is why houston has the food reputation it has!

We did the Trust the Chef menu and OMG every single thing was delicious! Definitely recommend doing this if you want to try a variety of menu items. Reserve the kitchen counter to see the live fire cooking in action. And the wine pairings from the wine director were absolutely perfect with every dish.

Last night, we celebrated our anniversary with dinner at Baso—what a memorable dinner. We ordered ‘Trust the Chef’ and were not disappointed! A total of nine dishes were served—our favorites were the grilled oysters, the quail, the pork chop and the caviar, though all were delightful. Each dish was thoughtfully constructed with simple preparation yet complex flavors and each was beautifully plated. Drinks were equally delicious. The staff was attentive and took time to chat about the dishes—even the chef presented a dish that wasn’t yet on the menu. Overall, a wonderful experience!

We celebrated our wedding anniversary here and everything from start to finish was exceptional. The staff went out of their way to make the evening feel special, welcoming us with complimentary champagne and a personalized menu with “Happy Anniversary” and the date printed on it. It was such a thoughtful touch. Our server gave incredible recommendations, and every dish was packed with flavor. My husband and I kept exchanging looks of pure satisfaction, those silent, knowing glances that confirmed we had chosen the right spot. This is hands down my new favorite restaurant in Houston, and we can’t wait to come back.
