My husband ordered the chicken pad Thai with medium spice and I ordered the Pad Kee Mow and they were both delicious! Our waitress, Tamra(sorry if I spelled that incorrectly) did a wonderful job taking care of us!! We also got the fried wontons as an appetizer and they were very good and very fast! And of course we had to order some Thai Tea, it was so good we had to order two! Absolutely pleasant experience all in all and we can’t wait to come back!

We weren’t actually planning to go to Basil the night we ended up eating there. But I’m so glad the other place had no tables available. This place has the absolute best Pad Thai I’ve ever had! The egg rolls were so good that we got two orders. And the fried wontons were delicious. The best way for me to describe the food is “delicate.” The egg rolls and fried wontons weren’t greasy at all. The coating was thin and crispy. And the filling in the wontons was really unique. As I said, the Pad Thai was fantastic! I added shrimp, which was butterflied and cooked perfectly. Again, actually kind of delicate. I can’t believe we’ve lived in Greenville for 7 years and hadn’t tried this place yet. We definitely will be returning! Cocktail tip: try the autumn old fashioned. It has apple syrup in it. Delicious!

Basil Thai has become one of my go-to spots in Greenville, and for good reason. The consistency alone sets it apart. No matter when I visit, the food, service, and atmosphere all hit the mark.
I almost always order the Pad Prik along with the Basil Rolls for an appetizer, and both dishes are reliably excellent. The Pad Prik has a rich, fragrant depth to it, with just the right balance of heat and flavor, and the Basil rolls are fresh, bright, and perfectly paired with the sweet chili dipping sauce. Portions are more than generous, enough to leave full and still have a bit to take home, which is always a plus.
The service is consistently great as well. Staff are attentive without hovering, friendly without being overbearing, and they keep everything moving smoothly even on busy nights. It’s the kind of hospitality that makes you feel like your business is genuinely appreciated.
The atmosphere adds to the experience. Warm lighting, comfortable seating, and an inviting layout make it feel a step above the usual casual dining scene. Whether you’re grabbing a quick meal or settling in for a relaxed dinner, it just works.
All around, Basil Thai stands out as one of the better Thai restaurants in Greenville. It’s reliable, delicious, and well worth the visit, every single time.

Have been wanting to try this restaurant the last few times I have been in town, but friends decided on another place. I am so glad this time I was able to dine here! Great Thai food!!! I had the Chicken Pad Thai and the eggs rolls for appetizer and both did not disappoint. Would definitely recommend trying this place out if you are in the area!!!

Basil Thai offers an enjoyable dining experience with very good food and a good atmosphere.
The restaurant’s rice, with its distinct smoky flavor, stands out as one of the best I’ve had at a Thai restaurant.
The service is prompt and attentive. I was quickly seated.
However, the prices may seem slightly high, especially when compared to other Thai restaurants in the city. While the food and service are commendable, the value for the price may give diners pause.
Food-wise, I would recommend the place for anybody craving Thai.

Absolutely loved this experience, am now sold to Thai food now! The kitchen manger held down the cooking, duck was amazing! Serve was intelligently comical, brilliant combination the food was the icing on the cake! Can’t wait to eat here again!

It was refreshing but not what I was expecting, when it came to the Beef Pho here; I also got the Basil rolls. Placed a to go order, the two items I got were fresh, but tasted more American than traditional Thai food. I look Foward to see what else they have and see if it’s all their food or just these dishes. Pho also had no been sprouts, but a healthy helping of garlic, with rather large carrot bits, broth was light. Not a price worth buying these dishes from here again if I’m to be frank.

I first tried this restaurant three years ago and would have given it a perfect 5/5. I don’t know what happened, but the food quality has changed. While the service was good, the flavor was lacking. The dishes didn’t taste like authentic Thai food.

We really enjoyed our Pad Thai and Red Curry. The curry was super flavorful and on par with authentic curries we’ve had elsewhere. The service was great! Our waiter was super attentive and helpful throughout the night. The egg rolls were yummy but are smaller than what you might expect, just a heads up!

Basil Thai restaurant in my opinion is very ‘Americanized’ and the fact that they have asked if we would like chopsticks (we are at the Asian restaurant after all) confirms that. I guess since it is in the heart of Downtown, the prices are super high, but I think our dining experience didn’t feel like an expensive restaurant to justify it nor did it feel like authentic Thai. But the service was friendly and quick.
I had to remove an additional star for my review because the dining area got very smoky from the grilling from the kitchen, which made it uncomfortable and almost hard to breathe. I suggest that they invest in better vent system for the kitchen area.
