Food was delicious and the proprietor was very nice. Also many vegan options.

Pros: The service was great and the pad Thai was tasty.
for the food & service.

Cons: The flies and gnats kept swarming our food. After seeing some land on our food we stopped eating, paid, & left. The men’s restroom could use a good cleaning.
for atmosphere and cleanliness

The times I’ve been here, it’s been good! The only downside is that I find the serving size small for the price. Vegetarian tofu options (green curry and pad see ew) have always been good and hot, but a little plain for my taste.

The food and the service were both very good, and the Asian beer selection was commendable. The Panang curry was an especially tasty blend of coconut milk and chili peppers. Overall we had a very nice meal there.

The only restaurant in the short north I will not be recommending to anyone. Once we were seated it took about ten minutes for the server to talk to us and get a drink order. Once, the food arrived I was sorely disappointed. I order the spiciest level of food available, and I’m not joking when I say it was completely flavorless.
Once we began eating we noticed the waiter forgot a side dish. We weren’t able to get his attention until after the meal was over. He then finally brought us the bill and forgot to give us back the credit card. Absolutely terrible.

On 08/07/2015, we went to the restaurant at 9:40 pm EST. We placed a takeout order. The hostess told me that green curry is the hottest/spiciest thing they have. I ordered it with chicken and shrimps both and brown rice. Told her that I want it very very very spicy. My co-worker ordered a Tilapia with white rice.

After about a 15 minute wait she brought the takeout packet when we got to our workplace to eat, we found that the white rice for my co-worker was not given. When I checked mine, I found that the shrimp was not added and the curry was basically tasteless with almost zero spicy level and the crappiest Thai food I have ever eaten. My coworker was pissed off too because they did not give his white rice. I have eaten better Thai food in small mom & pop Thai cuisines than here. We just feel they cheated us. I would never recommend anyone going there.

Quaint place, went for lunch on a busy Sunday and hardly any one there. Food was hot, tasty, what we ordered, reasonable prices. Veggie tempura appetizer was huge and served the whole table. Fresh rolls are supreme and I will go back for those. Ambience okay, they didn’t have any business cards or anything inside indicating address or phone number. Women’s bathroom out of TP. Management?

Service was great, friendly and polite. The panang was very good. The tom ka was good but a bit heavy on the fish sauce and a little salty, But not bad. The rum drinks were good in concept but not amazing. Better selection of booze would be necessary and maybe a craft cocktail bartender. All of this being said the staff was the best part. But huge potential. The space was also amazingly decorated.

I’ve been to Basil twice and each time I came away with the same impression: It’s OK but nothing special. The food is not authentic Thai, but rather an American interpretation of Thai food, much like how what we call Chinese food is actually Chinese-American. The service was attentive and the restaurant was clean. It’s just not where I would go if I wanted real Thai cuisine.

This place is a little hole in the wall, yet it is a culinary gem. I am a big fan of curry, and this place knows how to do it right. I recommend getting the PANANG curry. I usually like to get it with shrimp, but really, it’s good with any meat. It’s even filling as a vegetarian dish. The service was good, my water glass was never empty. Very courteous staff. I will definitely be back!
