Social Profile:

Basil is a warm neighborhood restaurant serving American cuisine with an Italian soul. Chef and owner Tom McGue changes the menu seasonally and offers nightly specials that reflect the best of what is fresh each day. The main dining room is a quiet, comfortable place to enjoy a fine meal with friends and family. And the pub offers a more relaxed setting and a casual menu. Basil also has an upstairs room that can be reserved for private parties and functions. We would also be happy to cater events in your home or at other locations.

Informal eatery & bar serving hearty portions of Italian comfort fare from a market-driven menu.

Basil is good. It is a little on the pricier side, and the food isn’t anything spectacular. The staff are very friendly and the service is decently fast. The atmosphere is always nice and quiet. I would go again for a nice dinner.

Went to Basil for my birthday and had a great time. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The atmosphere was really nice and the style of the dining area was very nice. The food was very good, had a big selection to choose from and a very good drink menu.

A little gem in the wall, food is outstanding and the service was just as great. The older woman working the desk was very rude and a little hostile, not someone you want as your establishment’s first impression. Aside from that the experience was flawless. Highly recommend.

A really cool place in what used to be the legendary Frances Café.Totally revamped and modernized ,it has taken on a whole different persona. They have a great menu, our server Rob was wonderful, and we had a nice comfy booth in the corner for seven people. Looking forward to going back and trying more deliciousness.

Fantastic food and service for prices that you can’t beat in Greater Boston. The calamari is lightly breaded, cooked perfectly and not greasy at all. Get the sauce on the side. I got the chicken piccata, and others got the chicken parm and veal marsala. The dishes were perfect portions and packed with flavor. Creme brulee was a nice portion for 3 to share after a full meal. The server was attentive, friendly, and prompt. Definitely recommend

My wife and I visited for dinner on February 4, 2023. We weren’t sure what to expect, but were both very impressed with the food quality and quantity, the drinks, and the service. The building itself is fine–deep in a suburban street and definite “stylish grandmother’s house” vibes–but the food and service were tops. We had the ravioli sampler (3 innovative ravioli styles, all delicious), veal parmesan, a surprisingly excellent French Onion Soup, and the amaretto creme brule. All were really, really good. The non-specialty coffee was so-so to good. All in all, a solid offering and we will definitely be back.

We were confused at first because it looks like someone’s house in a residential neighborhood.
