Their abbreviations are so confusing. They totally aren’t intuitive if you haven’t looked at the menu for the key. (And why does “veg” mean beegan? Surely they can have “veg” mean vegan and “beeg” mean beegan. I thought I was missing something important and initially skipped over the items that were labeled “sveg” but to them, that means vegan, and those are the items that would apply to me. *facepalm*)

But I do immensely appreciate that they put the full ingredient labels on the bakery cases. (Especially if they think vegans eat honey). The quality of those are hit or miss.

Anyway, I love the banana whips, I get one each time I come. And I ALWAYS forget they have meals too. I only ever get the whips and baked goods.

August 2024 visit (was still limiting my wheat consumption): I got both the blueberry duffin and the blueberry muffin. The duffin was dry and unpleasant, but the muffin was moist and tender. What a huge difference being wrapped in plastic can do.

The GF brownie is cakelike but still pleasant. (if you’re expecting a dense brownie, you may be disappointed, but if you go in expecting chocolate cake, you will likely enjoy it)

The cinnamon bun was tough which made me think maybe it was wheat based and overworked, but my husband assured me it was GF. (Needless to say, he was not a fan. His revulsion was a little amusing.) I enjoyed it though. I don’t encounter that texture much these days. It was so close to being flaky.

Sept 2025 visit (eating wheat again): i got the vegan waffle bowl filled with the pina colada whip (banana, peaches, pineapple, coconut) it was really great! The waffle has a nice vanilla flavor, and the texture was lovely. They let the waffle bowl cool down so your whip doesn’t melt too quickly. (They will bring it out with a spoon, but you definitely need a fork & knife.). I also got the banana oat chocolate chip muffin, and it seemed like the batter was mixed for too long. It had gotten tough. (They have a chocolate chip version and a non-chocolate version, so I’m suspecting they make a big batch without, scoop the plain ones and then mix the batter again with the chips which would definitely overwork it and make it tough. I bet the plain ones had a much better texture, but I didn’t get one of those)

The hubby got avocado toast and seemed pleased with it. He thought the serving size was a bit small, but the bread was good.

At the end of the day, we went back and got an apple walnut duffin and blueberry lemon scone. The duffin was as usual slightly overworked and tough. But it was still tender in the middle and enjoyable. The scone was nothing like a traditional scone. It was still very tasty. It had the best texture out of all the baked goods I had that day. It was tender and fluffy, not at all tough. (I think my issue might be with the applesauce. Everything I thought had a weird texture had applesauce in the place of a fat. The scone had unspecified “vegan butter”)

We’ve been devoted Bashful Banana Bakery fans for years! It’s one of our favorite places.
Huge selection of delicious food! Nurturing for your body and soul.

The banana whip (with peanut butter) is a long time favorite desert of ours. It’s a fun healthy treat. All their choices are great.

Bashful banana is an excellent choice when on the boardwalk and – added bonus – you are eating healthy while you don’t feel like it’s a sacrifice.

My only gripe is – I wish they would use healthy oils in their food to really drive their mission home. GET RID OF YOUR SEED OIL USE, please! Seed oil is not a healthy choice and I wish you would just use healthy cooking oil or healthy butters. That would be amazing and a great force for positive change! Especially at the shore! Thank you.

It sad to go and spend money on your vacation on bad food. People making money in the food business should be ashamed of themselves serving paying costumers bad, tasteless and to overpriced food.

This place should maybe consider only serving 5-10 dishes the whole day and make them good and edible.
We unfortunately stopped by there last night and ordered 3 things to try and let me tell you how disappointed we were.
It didn’t have taste nor was it made with some sense of knowing how to cook the most simple dishes ever.

The homemade focaccia bread was a piece of sponge and tasteless veggies.

The “vegan” pulled pork was the one dish that good have been good yet, again disappointment.

How can you overlook spaghetti and make a peanut sauce that doesn’t taste like peanuts but just lime/lemon??
It was 1000% reheated and it was meant for someone else that didn’t want it and it was served to us.

Just get a good cook to make your food and again serve only couple of simple dishes that way you don’t have to throw out all the food that no one ate at the tables around us or us.

It’s sad that people starve for food yet this place makes horrible food and as a customer you pay and are sad at the same time because it has to be thrown away, because it’s not enjoyable.

I wouldn’t eat here again even if they offered everything for free.

Get your grip together and make better food and don’t make customers enjoying their vacation come to your place and make them have that bad memory while dining with you guys.

We found this place while we were on vacation in Ocean City. Due to me not being able to have dairy products this place was one of the options for food during our trip. I am so glad we found it. We ended up going back several times throughout our time there. Highly recommend. Our waitress was amazing, informative, and the food was great.

The Banana whip is AMAZING. Hands down the best. My daughters vegetarian quesadilla was huge and she said it was delicious. The kids grilled cheese was the best according to my youngest. The bagels and smoothies were also amazing. The only thing we didn’t care for was the “to-go items” such as the cupcakes and muffins, they were super dry and hard. But, we will try them again next time as it might have been a one-off situation.

The only thing I was kind of bummed about was I waited 10 minutes inside to he acknowledged by a staff member when trying to buy some pastries because two of the staff members were chatting about some friend drama Other than that, we enjoyed it and will be back!

Whenever I am in ocean city having a banana whip is always at the top of my list. So damn tasty. So good I’ve learned how to make my own home made versions back home. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Great place.

Once again, an Ocean City staple gets plenty of nostalgia points from me. I remember when this place opened a couple decades ago and entirely forgot that it existed until this past Labor Day weekend when my girlfriend and I were walking by. I can remember my mom getting muffins here (which she always raved about) and I needed to stop in.

I was pleased to see that it is exactly the same inside as I remembered, which means that it could probably use a refresh. They appear to be using the same banana creamers that they were 20 years ago and the girls behind the counter were working hard to churn out orders. The kitchen is in the back and out of sight.

We got one of their proprietary “duffins” – a donut/muffin hybrid that really seemed to be a muffin in the shape of a donut. I *guess* that counts. We got a blueberry one, which was good but would have been better hot. We also got a banana whip (the standard here) with chocolate chips. It was really good. We got a kiddie size which looked bigger than a small!

It’s a shame that this place is not on the main part of the boardwalk. You really have to know what you are looking for to find it. However, they offer something completely unique to the sweet treat scene here. If you want something that’s not ice cream or water ice, check this place out!

First time here this morning and had such a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, and there are so many different options on the menu, I’d be surprised if you couldn’t find something you liked. Nice amount of outdoor seating too. Our waitress, Lindsey, was so courteous and kind. I’ll definitely be back here to try some of their other foods!

Owner claimed I attacked her on the phone after nicely speaking about the soggy burger I received with no flavor, no seasoning, just gross wetness. I am not usually one to call and complain, and MUCH less one to leave a review but I seriously wouldn’t consider coming back as there are much tastier options on the same boardwalk.

Had one of their waffle bowls with whipped topping and it was amazing. The waffle was among the best I’ve ever had- and I eat a lot of breakfast foods. Their coffee is also quite good. They have several gluten free and vegan options as well for those with dietary restrictions.

I have personally never left a review before for a restaurant because i believe in supporting local businesses but this was just beyond unacceptable. In the hour that my party of 3 waited for our food, we were maybe lucky to see our waitress once. Took about 45 minutes to get a simple black coffee. When the food arrived, to our disappointment it was stone cold. My friend’s avocado toast was possibly the saddest looking dish i’ve ever seen. It looks like it was replicated using one of the pre-packaged guacamole containers you could find at a supermarket. Coupling this with the fact that they charged a whopping $10 for it, I just cannot genuinely in my heart of hearts recommend this place to anyone. The shore is already expensive, but for the price there are multitudes of better restaurants for the price.
