This is a cozy restaurant. It’s close to The Gem Theater, (walking distance). There’s not much of a view, but it has good food. It can be busy. The burgers are quite tasty and substantial; but can take a while for your order to ready. Staff is friendly, although seems as if they can benefit from maybe a bit more staff. You can basically order your burger in all types of extra items! For cost efficiency stick with what’s included. The extras can definitely add up! This is sort of a cute corner bar, but the prices are more aligned with a mid-scale restaurant. It’s not ridiculously expensive; but it’s not cheap. Apple Maps showed the price range to start around “two dollar signs”; but I’d say is more three $$$! Still it’s worth trying them sometimes.

Just discovered this place. Walking distance from greektown casino. The food was great and you get a lot. Ordered a Drewski burger cuz it sounded interesting. Who puts PB on a burger (Elvis prolly)? Anyway, it was phenomenal. I would recommend…the salad and onion rings were good as well. They also have a good selection of beers. We will be back. The Drewski rules!!!

My first time here and it was great! All of the staff were extremely attentive and very impressive. The food was delicious. I had the pesto bison burger and the double smash burger bacon cheeseburger. I also added the tater tots with chili. The bison burger was very juicy and cooked to perfection (medium). And those tots were yummy. Had a chocolate peanut butter shake which took me over the top. I was way too full and overjoyed. 🙂

Been wanting to try a burger here for a while and it did not disappoint. Went with a build your own classic. Burger med/well with American, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo and bacon. Was fantastic! Every bite! The burger presentation looked amazing and it tasted the same. Had a side of onion rings and those too were awesome. Can’t wait to go back here and do it again

While several precious reviews have mentioned that service is slow that wasn’t my experience. Personally, I was greeted and seated immediately & even felt bad as I was given a table of 4 while it was just me on a busy game day (Red Wing). Location is central as you’re 5 minutes walking distance from Woodward Ave & Downtown main Street but better parking spaces. Idea to build your own burger is fun & unusual but tends to raise your price as most additions brings up the price you’d be paying and the board menu is offered with a marker but no sponge to erase & rectify or an extra napkin to use. Now as far as the food is concerned, I felt my burger meat wasnt fresh and didn’t taste fresh. Also. Skip the coleslaw side as it is bland and small not worth the extra $1.75. last but not least, while the place sits on a busy street with views of Detroit skyline and architecture, the bar area is small and expect your soda/pop not be refilled & an automatic 18% added to the bill. Will I visit again? May be with the hope that next time the meat would smell & taste fresh as there’s not a lot of burger joints in downtown Detroit. Place & idea have potential, enough sports games screens but need attention to kitchen & service.

It was our first visit, the weekend of the Autorama, so we expected it to be busy!
To start, the hostess was super sweet & warned us of the 20-25 minute wait. We decided we’d wait because we’ve been wanting to try it.
After waiting about an hour, I watched table after table wait for a very long time for their food! Once people got their food, ate, paid & left, I noticed tables sat un-bussed for a long time. Once bussed, tables were very slowly being sat, (the foyer was packed)! I did notice everyone was hustling, I’m not implying they weren’t busting their butts!
With that being said, guests should’ve been warned by the hostess food is taking longer than normal, (I used to work in the restaurant business for 20 years).
Once we were called, we already filled out our menus, so we could get our food in ASAP! Our waitress greeted us immediately, took our drink order & noticed our menus were filled, so asked if we wanted our food started immediately, (great service)! Our food took about 1/2 hour, not bad, actually!
While waiting for our food, (we were seated in the bar area), I heard the bartender greet At least 3 different parties & right away told them the kitchen is short-staffed & food was taking 45 minutes to an hour!!!! No it wasn’t!
I’m shocked! 3 parties left, one actually waited 45 minutes until they finally found a seat @ the bar to wait for a table. Once she told them this, they left!!! If I was a manager, I’d have a serious talk to my Bartender regarding sending guests away! Plus, this was after the big rush, things were slowing down!!
Another thing I noticed was they refused to seat guests (while on a wait w/ open tables) because the kitchen was behind.
Here’s an idea: Explain to said guests food is taking longer than normal, but have a seat, order some drinks and enjoy! Most of these guests were standing, (for nearly an hour), including us, AFTER walking around @ Autorama for nearly 4 hours!

With all that being said, our server was awesome & the food was very good (sadly, the fries were a little cold, but I didn’t care because I was starving @ that point)!

I’d love to give it another try, but with so many other options downtown, I’d be reluctant.

I really didn’t want to give 3 stars, but I believe that’s all they deserved this time.

Family gets together to make a trip to see the Red Wings and then dinner. We weren’t even half way through thr meal and I was being told this is the place. Basement Burger Bar, couldn’t ask for a better experience. Great food, great prices, and some of the best staff ive seen in the food buisness. My parents had met one of the owners, Dave, and the group met one of the partners, Ishmael. If you guys see this, keep it up, your doing everything right. Til next time!

Very much a downtown detroit vibe, especially on a game day. The burger and or chicken ordering works pretty smoothly on the plastic menus. Parking is just a downtown experience that you likely will pay for. We had lunch on a Tiger game day. An 18% tip is excluded on the bill. Service was erratic as it was busy, but not crazy busy so I’m not sure what was going on.

I like the idea of picking all the items and type of ground beef for the sandwich. It come out hot and was very delicious. It was very crowed however the waitress did a awesome job handling the pressure. The old fashion drink was on point.
