Good food, good service, and fairly priced. I loved everything about this place. Their back story is pretty cool too and the chef’s experience shows. Going to think about this food for a while and definitely coming back for the momos! We ate so quick I barely got pictures. Highly recommend ALL their apps. They have traditional Nepali dishes and that’s such a rarity in this area. We all left very happy and very full!

My wife and I had dinner this Friday last, and while it wasn’t our first visit a revue was overdue. The staff is always friendly and attentive, the atmosphere while simple is comfortable and inviting. Food… what can I say; AMAZING! I highly recommend the Saag & Makhani (pictured in this review), pick your protein (optional) as well as spice level, pair with a mango lassi to drink, and be prepared to enjoy. We always enjoy our experience here and will be back soon. Thank you Base camp!

Very unique restaurant! We love trying different foods from different places around the world and this wasn’t a disappointment.
We were there at 6 pm on a Friday night. It wasn’t busy but there was a steady stream of carry out orders. The restaurant isn’t fancy but was very clean and comfortable (meaning the AC wasn’t blasting so cold you needed a parka!).
The menu isn’t huge but I would rather have a small selection of really good dishes than a huge menu of meh stuff. Our dinners were excellent! We both had chicken dishes. We ordered mild spice level which truly was VERY mild. I could have easily stepped that up to medium.
Overall – great food and service. We will go back!

Food was AMAZING. One of my new favorite spots in Ann Arbor. Service was super fast and friendly. This was our first time trying Himalayan cuisine and we loved everything we tried.

After a full day of hiking ⛰️, we wandered in absolutely starving… and left with happy bellies plus boxes of leftovers to enjoy later. Portions here are massive — generous enough to feed the table and then some!
We shared:
2 chicken biryanis (aromatic and full of flavor)
1 chicken lo mein (comfort food perfection)
vegetable dumplings, garlic naan, and warm Tibetan bread for starters
Drinks all around — Arnold Palmer, refreshing ginger mint tea, and cozy Nepali chiya tea
Every bite felt like it was made with love . The service was lightning-fast ⚡ and so friendly, with a warm family connection to the Tibetan region that shines through in the food and hospitality.
For three people, three entrées, appetizers, breads, and drinks, the bill (tip included) came to about $80 — incredible value for the feast we enjoyed.
If you’re hungry, adventurous, or just want a place that makes you feel welcome the moment you walk in, this spot is a gem . Can’t wait to come back!

Base Camp is always delicious. I have eaten here on a couple occasions and it is consistently impressive. Today I got the Non-Veg weekly lunch special for $12.50 and it did not disappoint. The veggies are spicy and tender, rice is cooked well, the Chicken Makhani was flavorful and is complimented well with the naan. The Dahl has a strong chicken broth flavor mixed with puréed chick pea and is a warm complement to the meal. I finished with Gulab Jamun and the provided chai tea both were sweet and comforting.
If you have not been here and you are passing through it is worth the stop.

The SHYAKPA is an absolutely sublime and nourishing bowl of comfort. Its deeply flavorful, aromatic broth and tender ingredients feel like a warm, authentic taste of the Himalayas itself—truly a masterpiece of Sherpa tradition.
The Chowmein is equally impressive, offering a perfect balance of wok-fired smokiness and fresh, crisp vegetables. The noodles have a fantastic texture, making it a utterly satisfying and craveable dish.
Together, they showcase the incredible range and authenticity of Base Camp’s kitchen.
Ngawang was very good at explaining the basics of Himalayan cuisine.

This was my third time dining here. it is a simple and lovely place. I ordered the soup Momo for appetizer fully knowing that I was going to be full if I had the whole thing and at the same time, I wanted to try additional dishes since it’s a long drive for me to get here from home. The soup Momo was phenomenal and I highly recommend it to anyone. I ordered the medium spice level and I could’ve totally gone up to medium plus. I give this soup Momo an A+++! Then came the tea which I ordered, because it was so cold outside. But having made Indian tea most of my life, I found this one to be far too milky and could have been a bit stronger. I also ordered the lunch special with chicken Makhani. The meal also came with a cauliflower potato, subzi, dal curry, and a desert of rice Kheer, on with an accompaniment of rice and naan. I could tell that the naan was not freshly made in house. It was store-bought. The chicken and the daal tasted decent.

My husband and I both got the lunch special, and we were very happy with it. It comes with the chicken makhani, Curried cauliflower and peas, naan, rice, and a sweet rice dish for dessert. It also comes with a drink. The serving size was perfect for lunch, and a very good value overall. Everything tasted great and it came out right away.
