I don’t know why this place is rated so low. The mushroom swiss burger is soooo good and I’ve had plenty of burgers. The brioche bun is fresh and crispy outside and soft inside. The fries perfectly crispy. The salad a lot fresher than another 4.3 grill in another princess lodge. The wings crispy and not too oily. Service was great. And the view of Denali is just picture perfect.

Overall food was good, but pricey. Service was quick once we were sat but we did have to wait 45 minutes for a table. We were sat in what I believe is an “overflow” area outside of the actual restaurant walls and practically in the lobby. The only thing to designate we were seated in the restaurant and not the lobby were ropes.

Nice bar restaurant on site at the lodge.
You can sit at the bar and eat without a reservation. They actually don’t take reservations.

We had a box lunch at the Mt McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge on our way to Denali and it was just a wrap, a bottle of water, a packet of chips and biscuit. We couldn’t complain much as everyone had the same. On the return journey, we had dinner at Basecamp and it was one of the few eateries at the lodge. Being out of nowhere, there were no other choices but to eat at the lodge. We ordered fish and chips and a salad. Must say it was one of worst F&C I ever had. The food was very salty and the batter was poorly prepared. It was too thick so the outside was overcooked (although crispy) but inside uncooked and mushy…The salad was ok but frankly did not worth the money (although I understand I need to pay more at a remote location). My wife commented that we have excellent view at the restaurant, but the poor food spoiled it all!! That more or less summed it up..

Wings were really good. I ordered the broccoli cheese soup – had a bad unusual taste. I said something to our very nice server… she apologized then a couple minutes later informed me that the soup was scalded (and served to me); and had been replaced with a new batch which she offered to give me. Shame on the cooks for serving yucky food…

The service was terrible first moment with the put out hostess. Lots of tables empty, we should have known. Very few choices. If u have only a few things on a menu, but do those items very well then that’s great…they did not do them well– at all. I’m lying in my room at the lodge, disgusted with myself for not talking to them about it, but honestly no one working seemed to care. My daughter tried to say our waitress hustled around, but we have no idea where she was hustling to. It hurts me to write this as princess cruise and affiliates usually have delicious food AND good service. Not tonight, and especially not here.

I ordered a Long Island ice tea, which I’ve been drinking for years, and was given a drink which was not drinkable and wasn’t made properly.
The bar tender clearly was confused and had no idea how to mix drinks. Especially Long Island ice tea.
I would recommend visiting a different bar.

Solid lodge food! Big fan of the pretzels & beer cheese. Salmon melt was pretty average but I was still happy with it. The soups were good but portions were embarrassingly small for the price.

Good service and good food! Had a few burgers and wings for lunch. Food came out quick and fresh! Esteban was our server.
