Multiple 5 star experiences…this is our favorite restaurant in town. They have consistently wonderful dishes that change seasonally. The cocktails are wonderful as well. This time I tried the black cod- which I highly recommend. The hot honey Paloma has the perfect level of heat. The side of Brussel sprout is highly recommended as well!

Initially I was given a grease covered menu that was a turn off. I had to ask twice to replace silverware that fell on the floor.
My pork chop was cooked perfectly. But my 3 tablespoons of butternut squash was smeared under the meat and the 4 brussel sprouts cut in half were laying on top also. The sprouts were coated with lime juice that leached into the squash distorting the flavor.
My husband had a pasta seafood dish. It was very plentiful. If you like fiery hot dishes then try this one!
Service was just as you would expect at a diner. Nothing over an above and it wasn’t busy when we were there.
I asked the hostess when we arrived to tell our waitress that we were to get the check for the table. I didn’t want our guests to feel awkward. At the end of the meal the waitress loudly proclaims,”How do you want the checks.” We paid the bill and left, never to return again.
I never write reviews. But I chose this restaurant after reading all the glowing reviews. I made reservations as reviews suggested.

I absolutely recommend this hidden gem!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this charming family-owned restaurant, and it was an experience to remember! From the moment we walked in, the warm and inviting ambience wrapped around us like a cozy blanket, setting the stage for an unforgettable meal.

Our waiter was nothing short of exceptional. His impressive knowledge of the menu was evident as he expertly guided us through each dish, sharing insights that made our choices even more exciting. His welcoming demeanor created a genuine sense of hospitality, making us feel right at home.

Now, let’s talk about the food—simply outstanding! Each dish was beautifully prepared and bursting with flavor. My wife, Francis, savored the filet mignon, while I indulged in the perfectly seasoned lamb, both presented with an artistry that made every bite a delight.

It’s truly rare to find a place that combines stellar service, a cozy atmosphere, and mouthwatering cuisine at such reasonable prices. If you’re in search of a memorable dining experience that checks all the boxes, look no further. When you srr in Geneva on the lake, this restaurant is a must-visit!

PREFACE: this will not be like my other reviews because I hold places that are trying to be upscale dining to a much higher standard than if I were to be reviewing a generic diner for instance.
Positives first:
Food was amazing and the kitchen was pulling off amazing work from our ability to watch them working since the kitchen is exposed. Just three chefs pulled off one hell of a symphony. Without question probably one of the best pork chops I ever had in my life and is probably one of the most perfectly cooked medium rare steaks I’ve had in a restaurant. All dishes and silverware looked clean and tables and chairs all look to be in fine condition. Bathrooms were clean, which for the price point of this restaurant better be the case. The wait staff was attentive but there was a couple times where our drinks were empty for a good minute.
Negatives:
There were a couple misses that I would not even hold against any typical restaurant unless their marketing themselves as something upscale, which Bascule is aiming for. The hallway to the bathroom and both the men’s and women’s bathroom handles were also broken. The attire of the wait staff was inconsistent and was kind of inappropriate. For a formal dining to have anyone in athletic clothing is not professional. If anything just bite the bullet and designate uniforms like any higher end restaurant.
Only major flop that we had with the food was the Walmart butterfly crackers that came out with our smoked salmon gratin. It was so shocking and disappointing that I had to take a picture of it which I attached. The entrees we had were spectacular, but if they were just okay this would have been a three-star review because of those dang crackers.
Other odd things that need to get figured out is the ventilation in the kitchen, because the kitchen is exposed to the dining room it is not sucking the smoke out and it’s wafting into your dining experience. Then because of this fact, we could see that smoke had settled and severely stained the ceiling and HVAC system around the exposed kitchen area.

Our family of 5 dined in early Jan 2026 and had a fabulous meal and experience! The hostess and server were welcoming and knowledgeable. We tried 3 items from First & Seconds, 3 pastas, and 2 Thirds. Everything was cooked to perfection!! Thank you for an amazing meal! I’ll definitely be back.

My wife and I had dinner here on the last night of our anniversary trip (Tuesday evening), and it was the perfect way to end our stay in Ashtabula. The restaurant is just a quick minute’s walk from the beautiful River Bend Hotel — super convenient!

We didn’t think to make a reservation since Google Maps showed no wait on a Tuesday, but it turned out to be quite busy. We put our name in and walked down to Bridge Street Tavern for a couple of drinks while we waited. Tip for anyone visiting: if you know when you’d like to dine, definitely make a reservation — it’s worth it.

Once seated, we had an excellent experience. The flank steak was phenomenal, and my wife’s salmon was cooked perfectly. Our waitress, Jamie, took great care of us, and we really noticed how well the entire staff worked together — the waitresses and bar team were all covering for one another seamlessly, which made for smooth and attentive service.

Highly recommend stopping at Bascule Bridge Grille when passing through Ashtabula. Great food, great service, and a warm local atmosphere — a perfect spot for any special evening!

I’ll be honest, I was very surprised by how good the food was here. Ashtabula doesn’t exactly come to mind when I think of fine dining, but Bascule Bridge pulled out all the stops. We loved the ambiance, our waiter was hilarious and attentive, and every dish we ordered was phenomenal. I also loved seeing the chefs working were women, more power to you ladies! Thank you for making my birthday dinner fantastic. We’ll definitely be back sometime when we’re in the area!

My wife and I made our first visit and we are already planning to return with friends; some things need to be shared. We celebrated our anniversary in the Harbor for the second year and are so glad we came back.

We benefited greatly from Molly who took incredible care of us. Her knowledge and honesty about the menu made all the difference to us. She was well versed in pairings, additions, and alterations.

Our meal began with the Confit Tomato and Gruyère Tart. The balance of the acidity and savory was spot on and the pastry crust was delightful.

For our entrees, after much deliberation, we both chose the Dry Aged Pork Chop. A thick cut chop with a coffee rub (roasted across the street) and paired with their BBQ sauce. The bone-in chop was prepared to perfection, a great grilled rub crust and juicy inside. My wife enjoyed the BBQ sauce, I preferred a couple dunks but the meat was too good on its own. Sauce on the side was the way to go. We paired our chops with the fried Brussels sprouts and the whipped potatoes. Wow!

The entree portion was the perfect size to make dessert a comfortable option. Being our first visit, we jumped on two of Molly’s suggestions: Chocolate Pot de Crème and the Tiramisu. The Tiramisu was fantastic, and with all necessary respect to Corbo’s, rivals any we’ve ever had. The portion is large enough to share. The Pot de Crème, was delicious and Molly suggests adding hazelnut and sea salt. The addition put the dessert a solid step up on the flavor profile.

The drink menu has many appealing options; I enjoyed the Lost Coast Tangerine Wheat and my wife got the Keep’s Pleasure.

Bascule’s decor is upscale and the dining area is intimate. I’d suggest a reservation to ensure you get a table when you want one. Ask for Molly, you will not be disappointed.

Thank you Molly, and staff, for making our experience so enjoyable.

Food was amazing…until I got to the steak. It was hands down the worst steak I have ever had since I stopped going to Longhorn 10 years ago… but hey, I washed the only bite i had down with a great bottle of wine.

Probably the best meal of my life! From the charcuterie board to dessert and everything in between, absolutely fantastic! The stand out from all the phenomenal dishes was shockingly the arugula salad! We were in town visiting and am disappointed we won’t be able to make this a staple in our lives!
