Comfortable upscale atmosphere, attentive and professional service, and food prepared just right. Started with the Giniac, a gin and amaro combination that was just the right amount of bitter and sweet . The lamb chops of the appetizer were correctly cooked, just a bit pink. Kachumber salad tasted fresh and the Naan bread was toasty. Chicken Basant and Chicken Makhani both with fluffy rice, were the mains and both are great choices. Really enjoyed the smokiness of the Makhani. Too full for dessert but will definitely consider it for next time. Can’t wait to go back.

We came here for lunch on a weekend. Having made a reservation online already, we were seated immediately. We tried the chili chicken and jackfruit cutlets for appetizers. The chicken was great, I thought the jackfruit cutlet probably needed a little more spices to flavor it up but was good nevertheless. We tried a cocktail – Paan Chicagowala which had hints of paan or betel leaf and it was fantastic! For our mains, we had malai kofta and laccha parantha. Both were delicious. The laccha parantha was just perfection! Could not try any desserts but we will be back again for that. The service was impeccable. Overall, loved our experience and I recommend dining here for any of your special occasions.

Hands down some of the best, authentic Indian food in the city of Chicago. I have been here around 4-5 times and every single time the food and the service is simply amazing. Would definitely recommend giving Basant a try.

This is a great find. A refreshing new take on an old favorite, Indian Cuisine. All the dishes were excellent with just a little touch of class. The cocktails were inventive and wonderful. Service was thoughtful and welcoming. I would highly recommend.

Yum yum YUM!! Wow, what a gem nestled right off the bustle of Lincoln. The food was excellent—from the mushroom kulcha to the fish basant to the scallop and mushroom dish over chilled yogurt rice (so good)—everything we ordered was perfectly flavored and well portioned. We couldn’t help but slather the chutneys on everything, as they were *chefs kiss*. The cocktail menu was the kind where you want to order every drink and it lacked the pretentious preciousness that is common in fancier places. We managed to order so much food that dessert was not an option, but rest assured we’ll be back.The service was also attentive and friendly—thank you Team Basant!
