Stumbled upon this place with my brother. Service is Amazing! Great all around vibe. My brother randomly asked if they had mozzarella sticks which they didn’t being that this is a taco spot which makes this request a bit comical. Next thing we knew chef whipped us up some mozzarella sticks on the house! Thats what I call amazing hospitality! Made us feel very special as first timers so shout out to all the bartenders that night and chef and cooks in the kitchen! You guys truly made our night that much better! Never change!

Absolutely delicious upscale Mexican food! Not only was all of the food great, but everything was gluten free which is a huge bonus! I was visiting Asbury Park to celebrate my best friend’s engagement and our party of 10 got our own quiet, private section where all the staff, especially our waiter Mel, were so sweet, attentive, and personable. Definitely check this place out!

THIS IS NOT A PLACE FOR EATING. If you want a drink that is different and innovative, this is the bar. Liz was such a sweetheart, very kind and attentive. She was knowledgeable about the menu, honestly the only reason I didn’t leave immediately. This was nastiest food I have ever had the displeasure of paying for. If you grew up eating actual Mexican food, you will not enjoy the food here because it isn’t even food. Either the owners intentionally gave my party disgusting food or every other reviewer is lying. I grew up eating food from many different cultures within Latin America, none of it is nasty and inedible. I work so hard for the pennies I make and I truly feel like my money and my taste buds were wasted

Food and drinks were 10/10! White sangria was delicious as always and the honey nut elixir was so unique and tasty. Nachos here are the best around and the chicken and pork tacos are our go to for lunch or dinner. Nick answered all of our questions and gave 10/10 service.

We are so glad we chose Barrio Costero for our special day! From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was great the entire team is truly fabulous and made us feel so welcome.
The real star of the show, however, is Chef Ana. She is absolutely excellent, and her passion for flavor shines through in every dish. We were blown away by the depth of the menu, but a few things are absolute must-tries:
The Salsa: Perfectly balanced and a great way to start.
Cauliflower and Apple Salad: A surprisingly delicious and refreshing combination.
Chochoyotes: These were exceptionally great—the texture and taste were spot on.
To top it all off, the drinks were really good and complemented the meal perfectly. If you are looking for incredible food and a team that genuinely cares about your experience, this is the place to be.

The drinks were amazing! That’s what really stood out for me and also the atmosphere. It’s beautiful inside, I love how there’s different decorations in different parts of the restaurant that all blended together. The Watermelon Margarita was WOW! The ceviche was good, we wished there was more shrimp though. I didn’t really like the Torta de Milanesa , to me it lacked a lot in flavor. I would say the chicken was incredibly crispy but it didn’t taste like anything. The ingredients listed “mole” on the menu but I didn’t taste it at all in the sandwich. After I asked for a side of mole (which I was upset I was charged $4 because I mentioned I didn’t taste any on my torta) that made the sandwich MUCH better! If they added more mole it would really elevate the torta. The classic margarita was well done. The staff was nice and welcoming but I would’ve liked if they gave our table more attention. We were all the way in the back of the restaurant, while most of the customers were outside or in the front part of the restaurant.

The food was a 8/10 wish the portions were a bit bigger but overall a very good restaurant. The drinks were amazing. Very small menu (one page) and it changes every week so keep that in mind!

This place actually deserves 5 stars: the meat quality is great (the pork is roasted and crunchy), the jalapeños chimichurri is genius and the spicy margarita is on point, nice agave syrup. Happy hour offers interesting value with drinks at 8$ and tacos at 12$.
