First time to OBX, a friend recommended this place for breakfast and we were not disappointed!! Delicious bagel sandwiches & our little thought the reindeer pancake dish was so cute!
It’s a small place with limited seating and even in the off season it got busy quick! The workers were hard at work & doing their best to keep up though.
We’ll definitely be back when we visit again.

Stopped here for bagel sandwiches with my family while on vacation. There was a very young child at the hostess stand…maybe 7 or 8 years old. She didn’t say anything to us so we didn’t know we were supposed to give her our name. When an adult came over, she told us it was “very important” to tell the little girl our name and the number in our party. Several bagels were not available when we went…they were out of plain, onion, everything, and others. We worked with what they had available and had a few drinks. The turkey bacon was burned so I don’t recommend that, but the mimosas were good.

7/2025. Sooooo, upon leaving last time my I got A Jockey’s Ridge Italian to-go. Then, Took it on a 3 hour trip to home– i thoroughly enjoyed it the next day for lunch and it was un-freaking-believable! Been thinking about this place ever since. This morning brought everything full circle when we had the biggest omelet we had ever seen and the Ghost Ship. The omelet was stellar and the Ghost Ship is (as i mentioned in my last review) the best breakfast combo ever (if you love sausage gravy like i do)! Thanks BIB!!
7/2025(part b)Went back a few days later and got the ghost ship and a BLT w/egg…yep, got the Jockey Ridge Italian to-go. Just knowing that its in the fridge makes going back to work tomorrow a little more palatable
In the midst of making 1000 bagels for the St Patrick’s day parade, this place delivered the gooooods! Bagles were sooooo good, cream cheeses were great and the Ghost Ship(biscuits and sausage gravy) was the best I have ever had!!!!! The staff was amazing and the whole family was there helping and working together as a cohesive unit to make it all happen. Had to get some to-go for the ride home too… I will certainly be back next time I’m in town ☘️

The tiny parking lot is worth it! The food here was so good, and even though the staff in the middle of a morning rush we were taken care of quickly. I’m also a stickler for clean and this place was sparkling! The staff clearly work well together and are very friendly. Running a large amount of takeout and in store orders at the same time is no easy task and they did great. In regards to the price, this place is super affordable. Just depends how many fun drinks you wanna order. You can spend as much or as little as you would like ( ╹▽╹ )

My husband and I tried going here a few years ago, but they were closed the day we were in town, unfortunately. We finally went this year, and it was worth the wait! I especially love the unique bagel sandwich offerings and the ability to create your own. We sat by the window towards the back, so we got to see the bakers preparing the food as well – highly recommend! Next time we’ll try one of the flights!

We stopped by for breakfast on a Sunday morning and we are glad we did. We were seated at the bar quickly and our server was top notch. Everyone working seemed friendly and happy which was nice. We ordered the Avocado Bagel on Jalapeno Cheddar and built our own bagel with Cinnamon Raisin, Swiss Cheese, Bacon, Fried Egg and Sausage Patties. We also had a bowl of fruit. Everything we ate was delicious and the Avocado Bagel was enough for two people. The place stayed busy the entire time we were there and now we know why! Would highly recommend Barrier Island Bagels for a great breakfast!

This is the absolute best breakfast place in the outer banks! Went down to stay for the weekend with some friends who live in the area year round, and told them we wanted a place where the locals get their food. This is a must stop for anyone trying to get an amazing breakfast plus maybe add a delicious cocktail to wash it down. The island coffee comes with the local-made kill devil hills rum and was perfect with my bagel. The French toast and jalapeno bagels (separate bagels) were the perfect ratio of crisp and chewy on the outside but fall-apart tender on the very inside in some form of magical deliciousness that defied physics. Highly recommend the cinnamon sugar butter as an alternative to cream cheese if you’re like me or get a generous smear of cream cheese if you’re like my wife. I would have eaten that butter with a spoon. It’s that good! Check out the attached pictures to see how amazing everything looks. As a great bonus, the owner was tending bar when we ate, and she was the absolute nicest server/ bar tender/ owner you could want! Great service, great recommendations, and all with a smile. This is the place to start your day in the outer banks!

This place was amazing! I visited on vacation and solely went for the coconuts key lime cream cheese (if you get that on a French toast bagel? Heaven!) and was NOT disappointed! This place is amazing; and as a New Yorker I highly recommend! We ended up coincidentally sitting next to the owner’s at the bar and they were so sweet, and could easily tell they loved everything about their business. I highly recommend stopping by for either take out or dining in for their amazing speciality bagels too!
