This is the absolute best breakfast place in the outer banks! Went down to stay for the weekend with some friends who live in the area year round, and told them we wanted a place where the locals get their food. This is a must stop for anyone trying to get an amazing breakfast plus maybe add a delicious cocktail to wash it down. The island coffee comes with the local-made kill devil hills rum and was perfect with my bagel. The French toast and jalapeno bagels (separate bagels) were the perfect ratio of crisp and chewy on the outside but fall-apart tender on the very inside in some form of magical deliciousness that defied physics. Highly recommend the cinnamon sugar butter as an alternative to cream cheese if you’re like me or get a generous smear of cream cheese if you’re like my wife. I would have eaten that butter with a spoon. It’s that good! Check out the attached pictures to see how amazing everything looks. As a great bonus, the owner was tending bar when we ate, and she was the absolute nicest server/ bar tender/ owner you could want! Great service, great recommendations, and all with a smile. This is the place to start your day in the outer banks!

Loved this place. Got the Elvis. Pb, banana, cream cheese, French toast bagel, dusting of sugar. Huge portion. Coffee was actually decently strong! Most diners have weak coffee. Staff was friendly and attentive. Decor was nice.

This place can be hit or miss. This was my bagel today, on the wrong bagel with like NO salmon and so poorly thrown together. Thankfully, they said they would refund my money. Their staff is very to the point with little to no warmth or customer service skills. This all being said, their French toast bagels are PHENOMENAL. I usually get their bacon, egg, cheese bagel with French toast bagel, which is delicious!

Barrier Island Bagels is a quaint restaurant with an expansive menu of bagels, omelettes, and mimosas. My choice was the hangover bagel, scrambled eggs with cheese and a peach mimosa with eat in dining (they also offer to go food). They are located on the bypass so look for them in Kitty Hawk. You won’t be disappointed!

AMAZING experience. We knew we wanted to visit Barrier Island Bagels on our trip. The new location is super convenient. The expanded menu is impressive. The mimosas were so tasty and fun. Service was accommodating and welcoming. Loved our brunch!

As soon as my friends and I walked in the service was rude and hostile. Owner made a snarky comment of there being too many people. There were 3 people in the party and when the waitress (owner) finally came to get our drink order (15 minutes), we were ready to put in our food. Owner would not let us. Said we had to wait out turn. There were 3 parties of 10+ people ahead of us. Owner made a rude face and left our table. This all happened in the new location. I’ve never felt the need to leave a bad review but I was amazed of how awfully we got treated. I am a local and will not eat here again nor will I recommend this place to any of my friends or family. This place doesn’t even deserve a 1/5 star review. We ended up leaving. Never even got to place an order

Rudest people on the obx. Me and two friends went to get breakfast while there’s tropical storm going on. We walked in and were immediately greeted with “there’s one of me and lots of you”. Not a normal hi, hello, how are you, nothing. Then we sat at our table for so long before she came to get our drink order. We sat so long we read the menu 10+ times through. Could’ve read a book. Anyways, we were 100% ready to order everything, very simple orders, but the waitress, who I think was the owner, said in a sassy, attitude-full way “uummmm there’s three tables in front of you so no.” Like okay, the other tables were huge families with lots of children and people. She didn’t even allow time for anyone to say anything after she said that. Such a welcoming place✨ 0/10 do not recommend.I never leave reviews but good lord.

Tried the French kiss sandwich and the French toast bagel was fantastic! The sandwich came with cream cheese which was cold, I’m sure this isn’t for everyone but I really enjoyed the whole sandwich. We also got to try a rosemary bagel and veggie cream cheese and it was also quite good!
