Had a gorgeous view sitting outside overlooking the water. Bench counter table was a bit small to eat at but worth it for the view of the water. Watched sea lions, porpoises, seagulls and ships Had fun fighting off a seagull who wanted my fries! Waiter was fine. I had the Lobster Bisque and felt it was extremely overpriced for the amount received. It was only ok – not the best. VERY tiny amount of bisque that is poured over what appeared to be little fish cakes. Nice prrsentation since they pour it over at your table but too small of a portion for the price. Fries were very good. Beniet donuts were vey good. My Espresso Martini was excellent. My husband had the clam chowder which was tasty and had a generous portion.

I am a long time Marin local. Been going to this location since the 1970’s when it was another restaurant (Hulihands?) for the views but haven’t been in a decade+. We went here based on a recommendation from a friend. Views haven’t changed. Food was good & you pay for the views! Heat lamps outside on the deck kept us warm. Had a great afternoon of cocktails, wine & food. Nice mix of tourists & locals. Happy Hour looked good too. Beautiful restaurant & Bar!

Disappointing, such a nice place but they were so overwhelmed and did not handle it well. We were seated front and center but were ultimately ignored. My friends burger bun was crumbling apart and the pattie was bland. My friends risotto was such a small portion. The highlight was the French fries sadly. My old fashioned sat so long it came out watery. When I asked them to take it back they bright it back but just added more alcohol to it so it tasted like a straight shot of alcohol. So pricy for an average meal tbh. Would not return.

Absolutely brilliant as always! Cocktails were delicious (watermelon martini),starter (tacos) were out of this world and then there’s steak sandwich 10/10 as always! We were served by Brianna too and she was such a sweetheart and so attentive. Thank you to everyone who looked after us today!

We had a great time at the Barrel House Tavern. Oysters Florentine was great, the mini tacos were just perfectly sized. The place is busy so a tad noisy but a great place if you want water views. And bonus, you could see the Blue Angels’ performance on the horizon.

I recently dined at The Barrel House Restaurant and unfortunately left feeling underwhelmed. While I had hopes for a pleasant experience, the reality fell short in several key areas.
The Food
The most significant letdown was the cuisine itself. The dishes we ordered were disappointingly bland and lacked any real depth of flavor. Whether it was underseasoning or just uninspired preparation, nothing on our table had that memorable quality you hope for when dining out. For a restaurant, having flavorless food is unfortunately a critical miss.
The Service
On a more positive note, the service was acceptable. Our server was attentive enough and the staff handled their duties professionally. It wasn’t exceptional by any means, but it was competent and got the job done without any major issues.
Final Thoughts
Given the lackluster food quality, I can’t in good conscience recommend The Barrel Restaurant. While the service was passable, dining out is primarily about the food experience, and that’s where this establishment fundamentally misses the mark. There are simply too many other options available that offer better flavor and value for your money.
Unless significant improvements are made to the kitchen.

First time dining at the Barrel House Tavern and I must say that the food is very tasty (for me), service was really good (kudos to the staff! ), and ambiance is very lovely.
I would definitely go back here.

Ambience and view was amazingly great.. food was really delectable, we enjoyed every bite of it. The waiter was very nice, friendly… you can really enjoy dining here. They didn’t rush us so we were able to really enjoy each other’s company and savor the food

We had dinner at Barrel House Tavern and it was one of the highlights of our time near San Francisco. We sat outside on the terrace and the view over the bay, with the San Francisco skyline in the distance, was simply breathtaking.
As the sun started to set, the whole setting became even more magical. The combination of good food, ocean air and that iconic skyline made it a truly memorable evening.
The only small downside was that our starter and main course arrived almost at the same time, which disrupted the flow of the dinner a bit. But given the atmosphere and the view, it was easy to overlook.
An absolute recommendation, especially if you can get a table outside around sunset.

Views and services were immaculate. The food was very delicious. The price might seem hi but the portions are enormous specially the calamari!
