Barrel House II is located at the Nearest Green Distillery in Shelbyville TN. We are the home of the ‘Grilled Cheese on Crack’ sandwich ~ selected as the #1 Grilled Cheese in Tennessee in 2017 by Yelp and Buzz Feed. You choose American or Pepper Jack cheese, we fill it with our Pit Smoked pulled pork, pulled chicken, or smoked sausage, add our Habanero sauce, butter and grill it… Delicious!!!

This place is exceptionally excellent. Couldn’t wait to tell my classmates and friends about my food and visit in this establishment. This place is a very must go! I do apologize for forgetting the names of the employees, but they all worked together and took care of business. Our class had been to the other location first and we were very much disappointed with Mr. French. His mood, attitude and completely rude language was a sign to never patronize that place ever again. Both are located inside the distillery. I don’t understand how Mr. French was hired. He’s the rudest person I have ever had the pleasure to speak to in any establishment. Thank God for the BBQ! They saved my review from being a total loss. We did enjoy the tour as well as the backstory of this establishment.

We stopped in after our tour of the Nearest Green Distillery. I love how the old horse stables were converted into booths for dinning. The smoked sausage and the BBQ baked beans were by far my favorite!

Had lunch here prior to a tour of the distillery. I had been looking forward to eating here for weeks because I love good bbq and the reviews were good. I ordered the ribs, baked beans, Mac n cheese, green beans and my Bf had the nachos. By far the worst ribs I’ve ever had! Whatever rub they put on the ribs had too much cumin or something. It was very off putting. The medium bbq sauce had a funny aftertaste and the baked beans had too much bbq sauce. I couldn’t taste the beans at all. The Mac n cheese was good and the green beans were ok. The nachos were basic. Overall, I was disappointed with this meal. I love the look and feel of the restaurant and the service was good.

Went to give Barrel House BBQ II a try at their Shelbyville location today. When we arrived (@1:30pm) the place was empty, and was still empty even after we left. The folks serving up your food are very nice and friendly and the portions are pretty large. I bit was disappointed at the limited beer options, only 3 taps and no bottles/cans so the beer drinkers went with water. I was stunned when I was told no brisket was available until later this afternoon…mind you we dined at 1:30. Overall the food was just “OK”…and was more akin to a cafeteria offering of BBQ. If the meat was smoked, then it was difficult to tell. The chicken was bland and a little dry, the pulled pork was moist and tender but no real smoked flavor so it needed BBQ sauce help, the ribs were tasty but slightly overcooked, and the sausage was just OK. Of the sides only the beans stood out as very good. The food was decent but nowhere near what we had read about and expected.

It’s a cute BBQ joint located on the Uncle Nearest Distillery grounds. I ordered the “Grilled Cheese On Crack,” the brisket. It was delicious and they did not skimp on the meat. Also ordered sides coleslaw, baked beans, potato salad, mac and cheese. Although I wish the sides were a little bigger they were good.
For dessert I had the peach cobbler. It was really good and plentiful. I asked for more crust and they did not disappoint. I’m not a peach girly. I’m a crust girly but the peaches were really good.
You had your choice of endless sauces brought to the table. It was a really great and experience and how I ended the tour with some good ole BBQ.

Walk in and order at your left then go around and get your drinks, ask for ice if you want a cold drink bc they are not cold, then you pay good money at the counter before you go into the little dining area and wait. Booths are good size and quality however there is zero table service with the exception of the person who brings your tray. You get one napkin with your plastic cutlery and the food is kinda like concession stand quality, the bbq sauces are good though and the place was clean so they get a second star; definitely not a fan.

Rashaunda was excellent at describing the menu, and as we were coming from out of town, her guidance made all the difference. She went above and beyond with exceptional customer service and a great overall experience. The food was amazing, and the desserts were straight !

The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. Order was taken as soon as you walk in at the counter, then you pay and tip, and then you go sit down and wait for your food. I ordered a grilled cheese and will say it was absolutely terrible – undercooked and cheap kraft single tasting cheese (i didnt finish it). I also ordered Mac and Cheese which was great. The Cornbread was also good. I ordered 2 desserts – peach cobbler and bread pudding. Both were great.
My 2 friends both got the loaded baked potatoes and said they were good.
The plastic utensils and containers definitely gave this restaurant a “cheap” feel which I wasn’t expecting. Also no table service so if you need anything you have to walk to the front counter and ask for it. Not sure if it’s worth visiting again.

Stopped in for a bite for lunch. Plenty of parking. Food was pretty good. I tried the brisket and pulled pork with green beans and slaw. Very delicious and a good portion size. Staff were friendly and the place wasn’t too busy on a weekday.

One word. Brisket. This place has the best brisket, I’ve ever had. I recommend the Mac and cheese along with the bread pudding. Food was amazing, including the staff who were so polite and helpful.
