I came and ordered a meal that on the menu was 6.99 and was charged 9.99 and was told it was because of the fried onions. Clearly in the pictures I’m sharing it says 6.99 with the fried onions. I’m asking why and they are not giving me a direct answer and are acting like they don’t know English because I don’t know Spanish they then said they was going to give it to me for the price but have not done anything to refund my money that’s was taken off my card. It’s saf another racist place in the city of reading. Update gave this place a second chance and well they blew it again. Ordered the most simplest thing and they still couldn’t do it right. I don’t know how you mess up mozzarella sticks. The city just needs to close this place down at this point. Never again will I go to this place not even to redeem my 20$ Pennsylvania skill receipts they couldn’t handle to cash. Place is a joke do not waste your time money or energy in this place

Overall it was awful. The juice we ordered took over 20 minutes. After waiting 30-40 minutes at the counter, the pastelito I was served was not fully cooked. On top of that, the cashier had no idea how to ring up the $5 coupon which has been in the Valpak every month for the past 3 months. Even her manager was not familiar with it when she asked. Wild.

I am honestly extremely upset and disappointed. To be absolutely clear: this place is NOT affiliated in any way with the original Barra Payán in the Dominican Republic — the one people have loved and trusted for more than 70 years. Seeing the name used like this feels misleading and frankly disrespectful to customers who expect the authentic experience, quality, and tradition the real Barra Payán represents. This is not the same food, not the same history, and definitely not the same standards. Loyal customers deserve transparency, and I truly hope the authentic Barra Payán takes the necessary steps to protect its name and bring the real experience here soon.

If one asks for a beef and cheese empanada, one would expect the cheese inside of the empanada and the cheese not be in a container, flavored with some kind of seasoning. I will never ever get one from there, no matter how late they open. No need to be open 24 hours, if you are going to half-way make a beef and cheese empanada.

Good empanadillas. Had a chicken and cheese and he whipped it up and it was nice and crispy and tasty.

I went there like a year ago. I was going to go today again but, after seeing the ratings and reviews, I decided not to go. I will say that when I went that one tinme, the girl that was there was very nice, sweet and friendly. They gave me exactly what I asked for and it tasted pretty good! I don’t know if anything change but, hopefully they can improve whatever is going on there so they can get their clients up and I can go back to enjoying the type of food I like.

Worst place I’ve ordered in a long time. They had no idea what was on their menu & they messed up all of our orders. I hope they close ASAP, because they have no idea what they’re doing. NEGATIVE STARS. Do not come here, you’ll be doging a bullet.
