On January 18, the owner, Melanie, asked my mother to have me take my original post down, stating that it would ruin her business. She explained she was out of town and said she would address the situation once she returned. I agreed, in good faith, to give her the opportunity to review the camera footage and follow through. Unfortunately, nothing was ever done.
I want to be very clear: I am not trying to harm anyone’s business. However, customers deserve safe, properly prepared food.
The steaks we were served were unacceptable. The first steak ordered medium-rare came out completely gray and had a rotten odor. It was not eaten. The second and third steaks were barely seared and nowhere near the requested doneness. My own steak, ordered well-done, had to be sent back and still came out undercooked with a sour smell and burned charcoal on the outside.
The photo provided shows the following:
• Uneven doneness — sections are heavily overcooked and dark while other areas remain raw and red, indicating improper temperature control.
• Gray/brown interior areas — parts of the meat appear dull and gray rather than warm pink, consistent with oxidation or meat that sat too long before cooking.
• Poor sear quality — the exterior looks muddy and uneven rather than having a clean, even crust.
• Discolored fat — the fat appears opaque and waxy instead of clean, white, and glossy.
• Broken-down texture — portions appear mushy rather than firm, which can occur with compromised or poorly handled meat.
At that point, my fiancé no longer felt comfortable eating anything from the restaurant. We paid and left, leaving the steak untouched on the table.
In addition to the meat issues, the menus were visibly filthy with heavy fingerprints and grime, which only added to the concern. There was also a lack of basic service, including missing butter for the baked potato and no opportunity to request assistance.
The restaurant advertises Wagyu beef both online and on the menu. What we were served did not resemble Wagyu in quality, appearance, or taste. The prices do not reflect the quality or service provided.
After the owner reviewed a photo and stated the steak “looked fine,” despite the smell and visible issues shown above, it became clear the concern was not being taken seriously. Food with an off odor is a legitimate safety issue and could potentially make someone sick.
For these reasons, I do not recommend this restaurant. I genuinely hoped this situation would be handled responsibly and lead to improvement, but that did not happen.
Highly recommend longhorn steak house .

My Husband and I stopped in today, for the first time. At first, we were a little apprehensive because it was empty. In all fairness, it was only noon on a weekday. But, we sat down anyway and started looking over the menu.
It’s a little on the pricey side for some things, but once the food came, I completely understood why.
I ordered the Hamburger Steak with Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. Every single thing on my plate was delicious! As truck drivers, we frequent many places along our routes. 99.9% of those places, the food comes off the back of a McLane or Sysco truck…and you can tell. But when I tell you this food is the real deal, it is! The mashed potatoes still had skins. My hamburger steak wasn’t uniform. The Brussels sprouts didn’t need anything added (salt or pepper). It was divine!
My Husband had the Shrimp basket. He is an even bigger skeptic than I am and NEVER finishes the food on his plate. He did this time. And that alone speaks volumes for this place!
*I didn’t finish mine only because I had the VSG procedure and physically couldn’t. But I would if I could. It’ll make great leftovers for me and I can enjoy it a second time around

Was doing my 34 hour reset here at the Petro and my Uber driver and my Walmart delivery driver told me about this place
It’s a cute older restaurant and bar You feel like you’re stepping back in time
I trifecta a 5 cheese fried something for an appetizer Dang they were huge And very good with ranch dressing
Then had the chicken Alfredo The serving was huge It was very good But could of used more flavoring in the Alfredo sauce And they actually used a cut up chicken breast instead of a chicken tender It was good But I did find a few pieces of uncooked chicken But I just moved them off to the side
It came with a salad And a small cup of homemade peach cobbler
My waitress was very friendly
If you’re in this area Give them a try But come in hungry

Barney’s Roadhouse if you haven’t ate here, you’re missing out. First off, woman owned business, second, some amazing food and third, great prices. Just look at the cheesesticks I ordered, which were way bigger than I thought they’d be. The cheeseburger is hand pattied Wagu beef and the fried pork chops, delicious, but my favorite was the peach cobbler that was the best peach cobbler I’ve ever had. Normally I only eat the peaches, but not this time, I ate every bite and it wasn’t even mine it was my husband’s! That’s ok, what’s mine is mine and what’s his is mine right?
PS Don’t let the empty parking lot fool you, the place was nearly packed because the truck drivers walk over from the truck stop next door. Go on in and tell them I sent you!
Right off the Attalla exit!

So got here, hostess was nice and all but sat us at a table that apparently the server had left and went home. So the bar tender/server got our drink order and appetizer but forgot to tell whoever was supposed to be our server that we were there. So, after over 20 mins, we finally placed our order, got our drinks and appetizer. We got fried pickles. The first couple I ate were decent enough actually. Then they started crumbling in my hands. They were so overdone, they were inedible. The pickle inside the batter crumbled when you broke the breading. Apparently, the table next to us agreed because on their app sampler, guess what was left on their plate? Yeah, the pickle bricks. Then when we got our check, $78 dollars for two people for decent meals, crappy appetizer and A VERY LONG WAIT ALL THE WAY AROUND. Considering this is a Saturday night and the place is so empty it echoes. Being next to a truck stop, this place should be banging and busy and just overflowing! But I now know better than to EVER step in here again. Our actual waitress was great when we got her, but waiting on someone to see if we needed the to go stuff and when we didn’t get our check with the to go and had yet another wait there, I spent more time waiting than anything else. $78 my tail. $40 of it for a 14oz steak that was 10oz fat. My dogs will at least enjoy it because my son and I won’t eat just fat. NEVER again! Another customer leaving about the same time as us said it best. It’s only a matter of time before this place closes. It’s crap. Beyond mediocre VERY EXPENSIVE food and slow, eh service, the atmosphere is just…well, nothing. It’s boring with no personality and nothing stands out about anything in there. It’s all around too much for way too little.

The filet was prepared prefect. Medium rare. Had the fried green tomatoes, Brussels sprouts and green beans. All were excellent. My wife had the fried catfish with French fries, cole slaw and steamed broccoli. All was great. Service was outstanding. If you are looking for an inexpensive place to eat dinner…this ain’t it. However, comparable to any other steak house and worth every dollar. I recommend the horsey sauce with the fried green tomatoes. Much better atmosphere than most steak houses. Noise level was perfect. You can enjoy your meal and fellowship.

Once again an absolutely fabulous meal. Catfish excellent. More than one person can eat. Fried pork chops were outstanding. Again more than one person can eat. Service by Raven was also outstanding. Fried green tomatoes and bacon wrapped Brussel Sprouts great choices. The homemade cheese cake from Texas is incredible. You’ll throw rocks at the Cheese Cake Factory after having this. Very friendly atmosphere.

Maybe the best mozzarella sticks I have ever eaten. Alfredo was very good. In a world were restaurants are limiting sauces etc Barney’s doesn’t hold back. Well done.

Me and my husband have came here to eat several times on our journeys though this area. NEVER before have we been as shell shocked as well were this time. We both ordered 8oz filets…one cooked incorrect but ate it anyways..didnt get part of my husband’s food until he has halfway done with his steak. The price of 2 filets for $90 is OUTRAGEOUS!! The menu may say filet but the receipt says waygu…which IS NOT ADVERTISED!! It has never cost us this much to eat at this restaurant for the 2 of us and both have gotten steaks before. I’ve ate at several places along this country and this was definitely NOT worth $90 for 2 people to eat. As sad as I am to say this i will never be coming back here because it is so misleading to not put prices on your menu and then over charge customers for what you think may be a fair price but is absolutely insane. This is a roadhouse..NOT A FANCY RESTAURANT!

We stopped here for dinner after a long day of traveling and it was a great choice. Friendly and informal atmosphere and our server, Erika G, was super nice, friendly and helpful about menu items. She was very attentive anticipated our needs. The food came out fast and was hot and delicious. I had grilled pork chops the brussel sprouts and the broccoli. Everything was so tasty! The pork chops were so big I couldn’t finish both of them. My husband had a cheeseburger and finished my pork chops and he said both the burger and chops were great. Really positive experience both with food and our server! We will return next time we stay in the area.

I have meant to check this place out for a couple of years and have not until this past week, my loss. We had lunch and the food and service were excellent. Country Fried Chicken was amazing but the best part of the meal was the steak fries. They were cooked perfectly and the best part was the seasoning on the fries. They were so good I did not dare dip them in ketchup. We will go back again very soon. Also the price was very reasonable.
