We visited Barn 1 at Caldecott Hall for their Valentine’s set menu and overall had a lovely evening.

We arrived early, which worked out well and meant we were settled in comfortably before it got busy. The restaurant was clean and tidy, and they had decorated it beautifully for Valentine’s Day – it really added to the atmosphere and made the evening feel special.

The food itself was very nice and well presented. Each course was enjoyable, although as keen foodies we did find the portions a little on the small side. That said, the overall price of £39 per person for three courses felt reasonable for what you received and the quality on offer.

The service was friendly and welcoming throughout the evening. However, as the night went on it did slow down quite a bit, and we were left waiting longer than expected between courses and again when trying to get the bill. A bit more attentiveness later in the evening would have really elevated the experience.

One small suggestion – compared to other set Valentine’s menus we’ve experienced, it would have been a lovely touch to include a complimentary glass of bubbly within the £39 per person price.

Overall, a pleasant Valentine’s meal in a nicely decorated setting, with tasty food and friendly service – just slightly smaller portions and a few pacing issues kept it from being perfect.

Came on a Saturday morning, have never been before and initially it is difficult to find the barn if you didn’t know where to find it, we parked on the carpark just by the enterance to the swimming pool, we then walked around to the right of the main building where people were playing golf. and continued to the barn at the back of the larger building.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the barn itself is beautiful and rustic.

The breakfast is on the more expensive side for portion size and quality, the food loses points for the sausages (which the hubby and I think they taste like casserole ones- even with the waitress saying these are supplied from the butchers in yarmouth) also loses points for the toast. The bacon (same butchers) and mushroom is delicous and the eggs and tomoato are very tasty with a dark orange yolk.

We attended the New Year’s Eve party at Barn 1, which was advertised as “a night to remember” with music from the 50s–80s.
Perfect if the right songs from these decades were chosen.
Unfortunately, the entertainment was completely unsuitable for a New Year’s Eve celebration.

The music was slow-paced, lacked energy, and had no flow. There were very few songs you could dance to, and nothing built up the atmosphere throughout the evening. After looking into it, it seems the entertainer mainly performs for care homes, which became very evident on the night.

The biggest disappointment was the lack of a New Year countdown. The entertainer simply stopped mid-song and said “Happy New Year,” which was extremely underwhelming for such an important moment.

That said, credit where it’s due — the staff were friendly, polite, and kept the venue clean and tidy throughout the evening. The food was lovely, and the drinks selection was good.

Overall, while the venue and staff were great, the entertainment fell far short of expectations for a New Year’s Eve event.

What a beautiful place to have a drink and a meal on a fabulous hot summers day. Barn 1 was a lovely spacious and secluded (location wise), bar and restaurant with an authentic natural countryside atmosphere. Location is ideal for outdoor nature photography too. The staff was friendly and service was fast. The outdoor view of the golf course alongside the colourful holiday homes was so beautiful. Would definitely recommend for a drink and a light lunch/starters and a beautiful drive through the country park to get here. Toilets were clean and spacious. The atmosphere was calm and peaceful outdoors. Would love to come back to try the carvery some day soon.

We picked Barn1 as a “half-way meet” destination for a family get together on Christmas Eve. It was a perfect choice.
Everybody ate off of the 3 courses for £25 menu and enjoyed soup, “Pigs in blankets” or pate to start. Followed by “Bangers and mash”, Turkey pie or pasta. All rounded of with sticky toffee pudding or apple crumble.
The staff were very friendly and attentive.
A great start to our festive celebrations!

Was very lucky to have such a great place for food and drink on site while staying at the holiday lodges. Sunday lunch was excellent, great quality meat and plenty of choice for vegetables. Service was friendly and professional. Also had dinner on Thursday evening, simple burgers that were cooked excellent, flavour in the burger was good. Service again was friendly and professional. Lucky to meet the owner this evening, she was very friendly and helpful, great to pass on our gratitude for the service received while here. This place is highly recommend, Sunday lunch is a must. Thanks team for an enjoyable experience.

My family and I visited Barn 1 for their New Years Eve party. Unfortunately we all left feeling disappointed from something that was advertised as “a night to remember” and a “countdown to the new year”. Sadly the music was not fit for a party, there were too many slower paced songs to be danced to – the more upbeat and danceable songs came after the poor excuse of a countdown. Leading me onto my next complaint, there was no countdown due to the singer timing his songs poorly. The food and drinks were nice, however the overall experience was not worth the hype or £80 per person. We will not be returning.

First time we have eaten here, came recommended for the carvery so thought we would give it a try. Two size plates for carvery, Reg £13.50 Lge £15.00. We all had a regular size which was more than enough as the plate was large. Choice of beef, pork, gammon or turkey carved for you, good selection of vegetables including red cabbage, nice for a change, roast and new potatoes, only complaint there wasn’t any mash potatoes. Food was all hot and tasty. Desserts all £5.
Pleasant surroundings with a restaurant feeling, they were still busy even though service was coming to a close. Staff friendly and service good.
Highly recommend.

Fabulous Sunday lunch here after a lovely walk in the Fritton area.
There was the choice of carvery or something from the regular menu. Carvery was £13.50 for the regular size or £16.50 for a larger plate. Three choices of meat or a vegetable wellington, a large selection of veg to choose from too!
Very good food and the venue seemed really popular, you definitely need to book ahead to get a table.
Lovely walks in the area which is definitely worth making time to enjoy either before or after your meal!
