We arrived early, which worked out well and meant we were settled in comfortably before it got busy. The restaurant was clean and tidy, and they had decorated it beautifully for Valentine’s Day – it really added to the atmosphere and made the evening feel special.
The food itself was very nice and well presented. Each course was enjoyable, although as keen foodies we did find the portions a little on the small side. That said, the overall price of £39 per person for three courses felt reasonable for what you received and the quality on offer.
The service was friendly and welcoming throughout the evening. However, as the night went on it did slow down quite a bit, and we were left waiting longer than expected between courses and again when trying to get the bill. A bit more attentiveness later in the evening would have really elevated the experience.
One small suggestion – compared to other set Valentine’s menus we’ve experienced, it would have been a lovely touch to include a complimentary glass of bubbly within the £39 per person price.
Overall, a pleasant Valentine’s meal in a nicely decorated setting, with tasty food and friendly service – just slightly smaller portions and a few pacing issues kept it from being perfect.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the barn itself is beautiful and rustic.
The breakfast is on the more expensive side for portion size and quality, the food loses points for the sausages (which the hubby and I think they taste like casserole ones- even with the waitress saying these are supplied from the butchers in yarmouth) also loses points for the toast. The bacon (same butchers) and mushroom is delicous and the eggs and tomoato are very tasty with a dark orange yolk.
We order southern chicken burger with bacon and coleslaw , ciabatta garlic and cheese bbq pulled pork pizza .
But we was very disappointed
The service was great the gentleman was super friendly and polite and he try so hard to run the whole thing by himself orders ,setting tables ,running the bar, bringing food everything …..
The atmosphere was great
The food unfortunately was not as describe by the menu
Fries very oily chicken burger was full of oil and not tender chicken
Coleslaw average
Pizza not freshly made
We was disappointed I hope not just we got there in the wrong day
Perfect if the right songs from these decades were chosen.
Unfortunately, the entertainment was completely unsuitable for a New Year’s Eve celebration.
The music was slow-paced, lacked energy, and had no flow. There were very few songs you could dance to, and nothing built up the atmosphere throughout the evening. After looking into it, it seems the entertainer mainly performs for care homes, which became very evident on the night.
The biggest disappointment was the lack of a New Year countdown. The entertainer simply stopped mid-song and said “Happy New Year,” which was extremely underwhelming for such an important moment.
That said, credit where it’s due — the staff were friendly, polite, and kept the venue clean and tidy throughout the evening. The food was lovely, and the drinks selection was good.
Overall, while the venue and staff were great, the entertainment fell far short of expectations for a New Year’s Eve event.
Everybody ate off of the 3 courses for £25 menu and enjoyed soup, “Pigs in blankets” or pate to start. Followed by “Bangers and mash”, Turkey pie or pasta. All rounded of with sticky toffee pudding or apple crumble.
The staff were very friendly and attentive.
A great start to our festive celebrations!
Pleasant surroundings with a restaurant feeling, they were still busy even though service was coming to a close. Staff friendly and service good.
Highly recommend.
There was the choice of carvery or something from the regular menu. Carvery was £13.50 for the regular size or £16.50 for a larger plate. Three choices of meat or a vegetable wellington, a large selection of veg to choose from too!
Very good food and the venue seemed really popular, you definitely need to book ahead to get a table.
Lovely walks in the area which is definitely worth making time to enjoy either before or after your meal!
