Just a little odd and not what I was expecting… Great for a mini meal or a beer/spirit. Clean but dated…carpet needs to be stretched or replaced-I tripped on It! Dark interior made it romantic & cozy. we were under dressed, seems like a baby boomer first date place. service was great… you can tell the locals love it there!!
Would I visit again? Yes. And I would ask to be seated to the right of the door not straight ahead.

Our team of 6 visited this place for the first time. Other than the fact it felt like we were stuck in a time warp of maybe 30+ years or more, this wasn’t a bad place to visit. We all were greeted upon entering the front door. Our waiter & waitress were all very attentive. rating 10/10, and the food was hot & very good 10/10.
The one comment that stood out among the 6 of us was the menu seemed to be a bit outdated. The menu had a very traditional appeal to it, seeming to cater to a regular repeat customers!
Overall, the team had a great experience. were rating it 8/10

The inside of the Barn Door was unique. The staff was friendly and helpful. I asked if the shrimp was freshly breaded was told no. Then I asked about the crab cakes and was told there was not much filler this was true but the crab was mostly shredded no signs of any lumps at all. The taste was fine but I would liked to have seen a few lumps. My wife’s had paste with broccoli and chicken she said it was good and would order it again. The prices have changed from the on line menu.

I have been coming here for 20 years, it has never disappointed me. Get the wings and ask to not add sauce after they fry them. The Barn-burger hits the spot as do the drink prices. The atmosphere is exactly as you should expect from the name.

We had come to the barn door for a birthday celebration. It has been twenty years since dining there but my memories were excellent of the Barn Door and I wanted to celebrate the birthday there. Sad to say it was a great disappointment. We were told there were only two specials on the board when in fact there were four. Orders were placed and it went downhill from there. The crab soup was luke warm. The salad was given to the wrong person and they thought it was part of their meal. The crab cakes which I remembered being outstanding were far from superb. They were lukewarm, now have a breading on them. I asked to have them broiled and there was no butter or browning showing just a blah looking crab cake. One person ordered spaghetti and it had to be the smallest plate of food I have seen in years along with the tiniest pieces of bread. There were five of us and we all had the same opinion that we would not return. Today eating out is a luxury and the bill was significant. To have a very poor dining experience is simply not accepted. I don’t write this review lightly as I was in the hospitality business and we have to put forth our very best. This certainly was not the best the Barn Door could do!

We had to prompt the waitress to tell us the dinner specials and again for the dessert specials. The shrimp was so overcooked I couldn’t stick it with a fork. Absolutely inedible. My husband’s salmon was also overcooked and totally dry. They get one star because they didn’t rush us through dinner. We won’t be going there again!

Quaint & cozy college town restaurant. Good traditional food, healthy serving sizes. Alcohol offered to go or drink at the small square-shaped bar. Friendly staff members, clean, quiet atmosphere. Offering some steaks, some seafood, traditional entrees, moderately priced, and progressive specials to fit all budgets. Good place for quiet 4 or 5 person outings, or a random weekday night date with a loved one. Perhaps a student and parents state of the union dinner. I would frequent again.

The food was very poor. Carrots were supposed to be “glazed” but came out floating in oily sugary substance. Not sure how one can ruin fries, but you could ask their secret. The clam strips looked they were shaken from the the bottom of the frozen bag – nothing more than inedible, chewy rubber band rivels – served with a thimble full of red horseraddish. Overpriced food served by a lackluster bartender. Had he actually returned to see how we were “enjoying” our food, we would have provided this feedback personally. Too many great establishments out there to waste on a return visit.

Disappointing. Obviously frozen oysters used for fried oysters – during oyster season there’s no excuse for that! Wine selections were cheapest brands and quality you can buy. Pleasant service.

Service was ok, I ordered a ham club sandwich and 90% of the sandwich was tomatoes, few pieces of bacon and some ham. Once I pulled most of the tomatoes I had almost a plate full, rediculous. Over priced, very dark inside, dated and dull. Will not go back again.
