First time here and last. The food was warm when it came out and not hot. The waitress was very pushy and just wanted to get away it seemed. The food was mediocre at best. Definitely not worth it

This is a sweet Main Street deli in Wamego, KS. I had a Mafioso sandwich (their version of an Italian) and it was delicious. The side of Chessy Cron was also especially yummy. They have local beer on draft too! I found the people to be nice and the food well worth it!

It may have been empty of customers when my SO and I went there earlier today around 4 pm, but that didn’t change the pleasant mellow historic atmosphere of the building. The food was delicious, I had a barbecue Mac and cheese wrap with pulled pork, and my SO had the Dagwood sandwich. Let me tell you, the first look I got at that sandwich had me wanting to try it the next time I go. The BBQ mac n cheese wrap was grilled perfection, the spiral cut macaroni blended perfectly with the pork, and there was both a subtle heat to it as well as a nice rounded sweetness to it once you get past the mild spiciness. I had a side of warm potato salad, and it did not disappoint. It was a good choice for the weather we were having at the time (overcast but not too chilly). Will definitely go again. Prices aren’t too terrible, everything comes with a side, the drinks are the only thing separate from the meal. Lots of yummy options had me warring between what to get. Definitely worth a visit, whether you are a Wamego native or visiting from out of town.

Being new to town I find myself in new places wearing some admittedly not deserved skepticism. As soon as I walked in I was met with friendly smiles, direct eye contact, engaging conversation and professional service that to be honest, I often wished for at 100 dollar a plate restaurants. The food was as good as was quickly served. Rarely do I ever make the effort to leave a review but I find myself wondering what I’m going to try next on the menu the next time I grace myself with a meal there. I had a great evening and suggest that in the future if you ever find yourself wondering where to go for an evening out … Barleycorn’s Downtown Deli.
