Absolutely phenomenal experience at Barlette!

We recently hosted a private birthday party at Barlette in Brookline, and it was beyond amazing! From the very first email, Rachel and Emily were incredible to work with — so responsive, warm, and accommodating to every little detail.

Emily went above and beyond by creating a unique signature cocktail for the birthday person — it was not only delicious but also perfectly captured the theme and vibe of our celebration.

On the night of the event, the entire staff was outstanding. They helped us with plating and arranging our food beautifully, checked in often to make sure every guest was taken care of, and made the whole evening feel effortless and special.

The cocktails, ambiance, and hospitality were top-notch. I can’t recommend Barlette enough for anyone looking to host an event or just enjoy an evening out with amazing drinks and even better people.

Small speakeasy spot with the right vibes and a short list of seasonal & classic cocktails.

Dropped by for drinks early Friday evening. Tucked into a corner of the Arcade building, this spot was small, cozy, and filled up fast. We had one of the nooks—definitely worth reserving (only 3 available). By 6pm, it was already packed.

We skipped the classics and went for their seasonal cocktails. One unique detail: they let you customize any drink with your choice of base spirit. Nice concept, but most of what we tried unfortunately leaned more generic than memorable.

Our favorite of the evening was the Blazing Banana. We went with a tequila base, which gave it a crisp, clean finish that paired well with the fruity profile. More mango-forward than anything—bright, juicy, with a chili lime salt rim that added the right amount of kick. Banana showed up faintly on the nose but disappeared fast. Not what we expected, but it worked.

The other three were more generic. Espresso Martini had a clean and easygoing with a neutral finish, but a tad too sweet for my taste. Strawberry Old-Fashioned had the backbone of a classic old-fashioned but finished with a syrupy sweetness that lingered longer than it should have. Not poorly made, just a bit unbalanced. Fortunate Fruitlets was the least interesting. Essentially a berry seltzer with a splash of booze. Not much more to say.

Overall, worth a visit for the ambiance alone. Since they’re only open a few days a week, getting a nook might not be easy, but if you come in before 5:30, there might be some open spots at the bar.

Favorite: Blazing Banana
Solid: Espresso Martini, Strawberry old-fashioned
Decent: Fortunate Fruitlets

Amazing, cozy cocktail bar serving up signature, hand crafted cocktails as well as traditional ones. Our party had several of the seasonal offerings and were blown away by how unique and delicious they were. You can pick your spirit and I had a citrus drink with 7 kinds of citrus and bourbon. My husband had a gin drink with cranberry, jalapeno, dill flavors- just the right blend of sweet, tart and spicy,
Certainly will be back!

Barlette is an incredible, intimate bar that I can’t help but keep coming back to. The seasonally-rotating drink menu features cocktails with unique and fun thematic twists; I’ve tried almost every drink on the winter and spring menus and there hasn’t been a single one I didn’t like. The staff are also extremely friendly and the service is exceptional as well. I couldn’t recommend Barlette more.

Loved our visit here! The bar has a cozy, dimly lit ambiance with chic design elements. The best seating option is The Nook. One of the nooks we reserved wasn’t available at the time of our reservation, but the team worked quickly to get us seated as soon as possible.

Located in the Coolidge Arcade building, the bar is easily accessible. Street parking can be limited on weekends, but the best option is the Center Street EAST parking lot, which is right next to the building. Highly recommend visiting!

Such a cozy and intimate space, with real character and excellent drinks. The service was warm and welcoming and the vibe was both charming and hip. Food menu was limited — the cocktails are the draw. Entering through the arcade adds to the charm.

One of the few places I have been to that does the speakeasy theme well. The atmosphere from the lighting, music, and overall ‘intimate’ feel from the smaller size of the bar plays into it.

Emily and crew are lovely and personable. Definitely recommend at least checking it out if you’re in the area.

A truly groundbreaking experience! I’ve never seen anything like this and can’t wait to go back. This is an intimate place for grown-ups who value atmosphere, ambiance, and exquisite taste in all aspects: food, mixers, glassware, background music, and all the tiny, important details that go into making a welcoming and inviting space. Everywhere you look there is something pleasing to rest your eye on. Everyone you encounter is helpful and knowledgeable. Everything you get to eat is thoughtfully created. And everything alcoholic you drink you bring yourself and pour to your own taste using their glassware, ice, and accoutrements. The DIY mixer trays are beautiful, brilliant, and playfully fun. We enjoyed the Grape Crush mixer and the Count Camilo. We brought in NA sparkling wine and bourbon. Then we popped across the hall to Sorriso’s when we felt like we might like some amaro. Super easy and convenient. Likewise prepay reservations and vemno for day-of purchases made everything hassle free. The food that came to us was well paced and incredibly delicious. I didn’t know how wonderful cauliflower and cheese sliders could taste. I love the seasonality and careful consideration that went into every course. I’m still dreaming of the pina colada dessert. My advice: Get your reservations and enjoy the speakeasy coziness and the master craftsmanship of Barlette.
