Bark BBQ: A Hidden Heavyweight on the South Shore
Bark BBQ is the kind of humble place you could drive past a hundred times and never realize you just missed greatness. Family‑owned, small but functional, unassuming—and absolutely doing it right. The moment I swung my door open in that cold air , my senses lit up. That primal hunter’s soul feeling, smoky scent drifting from the smoker wasn’t just an aroma; it was a summons from food lover gods.

The menu reads like something you’d expect to find deep in the Carolinas or Texas, not a short ride south of Quincy. But here it is: real BBQ, no shortcuts, no sugar‑coated cheats—just hours of honest smoke, simple rubs, and meats that crackle because they earned it.

Yesterday, it hit me good.
My must‑orders:

Burnt ends — rich, caramelized, and ridiculous in the best way.

Brisket — tender, juicy, and full of that deep smoke ring.

Pulled pork — melt‑in‑your‑hands good.

Cucumber salad — crisp, cool, and the perfect counterbalance.

Cornbread — yes, four pieces… and no regrets.

Even the buns were perfect. Everything tasted fresh, homemade, and crafted with real care. This little shop packs a heavyweight punch that left me completely blown away. That and squeaky clean.

And the sauces? Let’s just say they deserved some alone time. They weren’t making it home with me—no chance. Sitting there with ribs, wings kissed with jerk spice, and that nose‑tingling fragrance of the smoker rolling through the room… it all made perfect sense. This is food made with love, pride, and a whole lot of patience.

Trust me: give it a whirl if you dare. I’m already planning my return—hungry.

Janice and the team at Bark provided a delicious catering order for our family get together. We had hush puppies with hot honey, cucumber salad, baked beans, collard greens, brisket, pulled pork and pulled chicken. The variety of sauces provided different flavors for everyone’s enjoyment. All the guests raved about the food. And the amounts were plenty. Extra thanks to Janice for advising me through the ordering process as well as serving tips. Excellent job Bark!

We ordered the 3-meat platter along with the burnt ends and jumbo smoked wings. The food was delicious, the staff was super friendly, and it had a good amount of seating. I would definitely eat there again.

We celebrated my son’s 18th birthday at Bark. First time coming here and we were not disappointed! I love their simple system of order, pay then sit and eat! No servers. The chef was nice and answered all our annoying questions about his smoker and process. These people know what they’re doing and they love bbq and feeding people. The food was delicious.

Good burnt ends. Would recommend. Perfectly adequate BBQ for the region. I’d say top 3 for MA, in the mix with Blondie’s and Noah’s. Good bark on brisket, but on the “steamed” side. Ribs were on the mushy side…but definitely tender (I prefer a little “chew” in my St. Louis”). Wish they had banana pudding.

My husband and I go to BARK-BBQ any time that we are in Plymouth. Last night we got takeout to enjoy with the divisional round playoffs.
Everything was so good that we didn’t mind that our teams lost. We had the ribs, chicken, pulled pork & chicken. It is so hard to decide which was out favorite.
We fully intend to have the leftovers for today’s games. Go Patriots!
P.S. the staff are amazing

This is a really good authentic must try bbq place in Plymouth. It’s a little pricey, but it’s definitely at least worth trying once. When you go, get the brisket. It’s by far the superior meat option. We also got jerk chicken and sausage which were decent, but not even close to the absolute punch of flavor the brisket has. They give you sides as well (which all taste really good). I’d definitely go back here again.

This place is Outstanding!! From the moment you open the door you are greeted with an incredible aroma and smiling faces, both from the staff and the customers enjoying incredible BBQ.
I have dined alone. I have brought clients, friends and family. I have brought take-out to my home 30 minutes to 6 hours away, depending on Boston traffic. Its always good. No, im mistaken. Its always excellent! So aren’t the leftovers, if you have self control. My suggestion is trying it early and often.

If you’re looking for great meats and salads, this place is it. We drove over 40 minutes to get here, and it was totally worth it. The food is amazing, and the service is fantastic. The spot is cool and well-designed. I definitely recommend it. The pulled pork, ribs, and brisket are out of this world—honestly. If I could, I’d give them 6 stars!
