For more than 20 years, Bardenay has been a must-visit restaurant. Visitors and locals alike come to enjoy good food, drinks, and our great atmosphere. History was made in December of 1999 when the Federal Government issued Bardenay the first distillery permit ever given to a distiller to operate in a public space. Further history was made on April 25th, 2000 when we served the first cocktail made with spirits crafted on the premises.Today, each of our locations is a popular choice for lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, or a drink on the patio. With food that’s unique to Idaho and handcrafted cocktails that are unique to Bardenay, it’s an experience worth coming back for.

I didn’t come in with a plan — just the vague idea of food and a drink — and that turned out to be the right approach. The space hums in a steady, comfortable rhythm. People talking, glasses clinking, the kind of background energy that makes you want to stay longer than intended. It feels social without being chaotic, polished without being stiff.
The menu hits a rare balance: approachable but thoughtful. You can order something familiar and be perfectly happy, or lean a little adventurous and be rewarded. Everything tastes deliberate, like it was tested, tweaked, and respected. And the spirits — being a distillery actually matters here. Cocktails aren’t an afterthought; they’re part of the identity. Clean, balanced, and dangerously easy to order another.
Service is smooth in a way you only notice when it’s done right. Attentive without hovering. Friendly without forcing it. You’re never rushed, never forgotten.
Bardenay doesn’t try to reinvent dining. It does something better: it creates a place where good food, good drinks, and good timing line up naturally. And once you notice that, it becomes very easy to come back.
Outdoors and indoors seating, seat yourself, I never waited in line.
During a business trip I found myself returning many times because all the food I tried had unique variety of flavors. And there is just about a price range and a flavor pallet for everyone here I feel.
If you drink, (I don’t but added for those who do), they have large selection on tap and a bunch of specialties. I posted those specialties in the pictures.
If I couldn’t make up my mind for a place to eat, I just showed up here in downtown Boise. From soups, to steaks, to fish, to wanting a full meal to wanting a lighter snack, they had something. And it all tasted unique to me.
Servers were all pretty kind and fun to talk to as well.
This will become a stop for me next time I pass through Boise.
My go to items are the Bardenay Beef dip and the Oven-Roasted Corned Beef & Kimchi Reuben, which has become one of my favorite sandwiches. The sweet potato fries with ranch dip is the best side.
I would not recommend the Bardenay Pho if you are looking for the traditional flavor.
The staff was fantastic and attentive to group needs and special dietary needs.
The Tenderloin Mushroom Pasta was phenomenal. Perfectly cooked to medium.
