The hubby and I were in League City and absolutely starving. We originally tried San Lorenzo’s, but they were closed (Sunday hours), so we headed a mile down the road to Barcena’s Mexican Restaurant — and thank goodness we did!
We already love the Barcena’s near our home, so trying this location was an easy yes. We ordered the fajitas for one (because honestly… who can eat all that by themselves?!), and the food came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor.
If you’re near one of the many Barcena’s locations, definitely give them a try. Great food, great portions, and consistently tasty no matter which location you visit.

If you haven’t tried Barcenas, give them a try. Best TexMex in the Bay Area, and maybe ANYWHERE!!!!! The Modelo Negros are always ice cold!

Oh my, this may but a bit wordy, but there a lot to say here. First of all my waiter was Johan. A very pleasant fella with a million dollar smile (beware ladies). So I ordered my usual safe plate (dairy allergy) of ground beef soft tacos. It arrived promptly and there was nothing but plate left when I was done. A few details. The flour tortillas were small but perfect. You don’t get your hands all mussed up trying to wrangle an oversized soft taco. The tacos were grilled and just slightly crispy, but still soft, nice touch. The beef was cooked thoroughly and not over seasoned. They give you three which is perfect. Okay quick note on the rice and beans. Instead of a spoonful of rice they form it into a perfect mound. It looked dry until I tasted it. Very moist and tasty. The refried beans were the perfect consistency and they didn’t dry out and stick to plate. If licking the plate was appropriate…… Ok the salsa, my only complaint, the bowls were too small.

I went to Cafe Petra and South Shore Grille where I was completely ignored by the waitstaff so I left and came to Barcenas where I was greeted immediately by Nelly. She and a young man named Cristian, along with another male, served me the food. They were quick and the food was excellent. The Barcenas Family sure knows how to run a restaurant. You are doing excellent and I pray your restaurants continue to flourish!!

They really are a 5 star joint. The Tex Mex here is a little pricier than standard joints but that difference really comes through in the food. It tastes clean and fresh and goes great with a margarita. I got the basic frozen house marg and was really satisfied. Been back twice since that time and both the breakfast and lunch/dinner are equally great. Shout outs to the queso, enchiladas de Homero, Mixed fajitas, and barbacoa.

The atmosphere is amazing, they play live Mexican music! The people are very friendly and polite. The food is excellent and the drinks are wonderful! I highly recommend it! This is my first time here!

Most mid Tex-Mex I’ve had, not to mention overpriced. Maybe they use better ingredients than other places but the flavor did not present such to me. I also got the sense my waiter was new so I won’t name them, but I got the slowest service.
I miss Fuzzy’s, I could get beer in a chilled glass and better food for a fairer price.

Food is Amazing! The service is fantastic! The family came out to ensure my meal was just right. Victor and Alondra were behind the bar and are awesome! If you can handle the heat, try Homero’s Favorite Enchiladas with the Super Hot Jalapeño salsa (they have the mild as well). We also ordered the Crispy Tacos Fajitas! Everything was perfect!

This place was absolutely amazing. Both my mom and I have celiac and when we asked about gluten free options Melissa the manager sat there and went through almost the entire menu with us. She helped us get chips that we were able to eat along with delicious food options. I have never felt more taken care of by a restaurant since I was diagnosed with this disease. I will absolutely recommend this place to everyone because of this experience. Thank you Melissa for EVERYTHING!
