The service here is second to none, everyone was extremely friendly and engaging. I asked for whatever sangria was less sweet, was told “the white”, it was too sweet for my taste, but that’s just me, I’m a fan of dry sangria. I ordered the patatas bravas and the croquettes with manchego and jamon. Both were very rich and decadent of which I couldn’t finish. Will definitely return and try some larger plates
Before going further, a brief confession: I’m a bit of a food snob. I dine often in Delray and throughout South Florida, and I also seek out great food when traveling. One of my favorite food destinations in the world is San Sebastián, Spain. I mention this because my dining experience at Barcelona Wine Bar genuinely transported my taste buds back there.
The restaurant itself is classy and hip, with a thoughtful layout that includes outdoor seating, indoor tables, and a large, welcoming bar. Management has clearly invested in training and culture. The hospitality is polished, the staff is friendly, smiling, and energetic. Customer interaction feels professional and welcoming without being stiff. This is a very well-managed restaurant.
The menu is excellent across the board. There are decadent meat tapas, fresh and flavorful seafood tapas , and a wide variety of healthy vegetable tapas . As expected, they also serve paella.
The wine list is extensive. One thing I really appreciated is the option to order 3-ounce or 6-ounce pours for many wines by the glass. We took advantage of this by doing two rounds of 3-ounce pours, essentially creating our own tasting and sampling four different wines. It’s a smart and fun approach, especially given how tempting the wine menu is.
My girlfriend ordered the whipped goat cheese with dates, pomegranate, and dill. It was creamy, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully balanced. The saltiness of the cheese contrasted expertly with the sweetness of the dates and pomegranate. It’s something I might not have ordered myself, but once I tasted it, I was very glad we did.
We also had the roasted cauliflower, which was both healthy and satisfying, finished with just the right drizzle of harissa tahini dressing.
I ordered the pulpo (octopus), served with a very light red chimichurri and ají amarillo sauce. It was perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful. This rivaled and surpassed other octopus dishes that I have experienced in other high quality Mediterranean restaurants.
For our larger plate, we chose the Paella Mariscos with shrimp, mussels, calamari, and clams. The rice was cooked perfectly al dente and prepared a la chorrera, which those familiar with proper paella will appreciate. A great feature is the option to order full or half portions. We went with the half order, and paired with three tapas, it was the perfect amount of food for the two of us.
They also brought out beautifully baked super tasty sourdough bread, which was excellent for dipping into the light sauces on the dishes and the olive oil provided at the table.
Despite the restaurant being packed, our server, Courtney, was unhurried, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. She described the dishes with confidence and passion and is clearly an asset to the restaurant.
Barcelona Wine Bar jumps straight into the top tier of Delray dining. I have no doubt that I will be a regular.
The service and attitude of all of the staff was top tier. Highly recommend you check them out.
tapas and NY strip from Chef Javier. Great attentive service. Amazing wine list.
