Barbès

Social Profile:

Named for the Parisian neighborhood at the foot of the Sacre-Coeur, known as a little piece of North Africa. It is a melting pot of Parisian and North African culture, cuisine, music & decor. With a menu that takes its lead from Morocco, North Africa’s culinary star, balanced with traditional French brasserie fare and a cozy atmosphere echoing the bistros of Paris (but with some really cool Moroccan touches), our goal is to bring the Barbès Paris vibe to Hoboken!

Intimate spot with a mix of French & North African food & vibe based on a Parisian neighborhood.

This restaurant hits on all fronts- vibes, food, and service were all great. Reasonable pricing as well. We had the Moroccan mussels, shrimp with couscous and pastilla chicken- great Moroccan flavors!

Great little French/Moroccan spot with a very local feel. Many of the folks at the bar were regular locals and the owner+ main server were very attentive.

Wonderful experience dining at Barbes. Fantastic service, ambiance and delicious flavor. Will be returning and sending friends and family. The live music was the topping on the cake and the cocktails were so good.

Came here for a date night with my wife. Great atmosphere. Fun, live music, and an awesome bistro vibe. Lamp chops were delicious. Mediterranean dips and salads were fine. Service was attentive. Overall, had an amazing time!

My experience was not the best. Came here for my birthday and did not get servicefor more than 30 minutes. Did not even ask us for drinks as soon as we were seated. It just seemed as though no one wanted to serve my family. The food was not worth the wait, the drinks were the best part. As well as the band being great and welcoming. Definitely not coming back.

Nice ambiance and delicious food! We had the lamb shank, hummus, French onion soup, and vegetable tagine – all were great. Cocktails were refreshing – we tried the Naughty & Nice and the Marie Antoinette. Overall, a great date night spot!

I cannot express how much I enjoyed my dining experience! From the lovely staff, to the beautiful atmosphere, and of course the authentic cuisine. I was transported back to French Rivera, it is everything you hope for and more. Make a reservation and bring your loved ones, you won’t regret it!

First time in this location. Used to the one in Manhattan. Was excited that is so close to home. Coming in, it was a little busy, but we were sat within 5 minutes. The server was quite busy, but very nice. One of our place settings was missing a napkin, and it took a long time to finally get one, but it happens. Food was amazing. Taste was extraordinary! We got the moules frites as an app, but it was honestly enough to be a meal. My husband ordered steak and eggs. The taste of the char on the steak was distractingly strong, and become almost gross by the last bite. The croque madame was good. Fluffy and cheesy. Drinks were refreshing. I ordered the rockin Moroccan which was very much like a monitor. Husband got the barbés old fashion, and he was very happy with it. Brunch for 2 (1 app 2 entrees and 3 drinks) was about $120 after tip. I might come back, but there are so many restaurants in Hoboken I want to try, and this did not leave me absolutely wanted more. Also, check your bill. Ours came showing different prices than listed on the menu. I just didn’t want to be that jerk making a scene about $2, but prices should match.
