Stopped there for the first time. We were passing through Orange and turned around to try the food. I got the frogs legs, greens and cornbread. All I can say is that I am so glad I turned around. It was delicious! I had always wanted to try frogs legs and I was not disappointed. They were amazing! If you live in the area or are passing through…. You must stop and try the food! The lovely people who cooked and served my food are so friendly.

If I could rate them less than zero I would!! Stood in line at an event for 45 min and never received my food order! When I asked for a refund, Barbara lied and said she issued the refund. Here it is a month later – NO FOOD – NO REFUND!!! TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICE!!!

Ms. Barbara will make you feel welcome and the food will keep you coming back. I discovered her place while visiting Orange for work and each time I come back, I have to stop by. The catfish sandwich, collards greens, and mac and cheese are my go to order. The portions are generous and the food is well seasoned. It’s definitely comfort food. I can’t wait to try the frog legs.

Barbara made us Fried Chicken and Mac-n-Cheese. I ordered the plain MnC, as she didn’t offer it with Jalapenos. To my surprise, she made me a Jalapeno version, and it was as amazing as her fried chicken. I hope she makes Jalapeno Mac a permanent part of the menu. It had JUST the right amount of spice to it, and everyone at our Tailgate loved it – it was gone before the regular Mac.

Got some food from the soul food bus at Hyperfest 2024, where they were catering. I will start by saying that the lady who took the order was friendly and gave good customer service. However, we waited in line for over an hour. Waffles and chicken sounded good. The longer it took, the more anticipation there was. Sadly, the ‘fried’ chicken looked/tasted nothing like your typical fried chicken. No breading. It literally was a few bare chicken strips that had been dunked in a fryer. The waffle was super thick, and the dough/batter had almost no taste. It was very disappointing after paying $17 and waiting almost 90 mins total. Literally, an Eggo waffle and Walmart fried chicken would have tasted far better. Hate to be harsh for people who are just trying to make a living. But that’s the truth.

There’s no doubt that this place seems to have the potential to put out great food. It was the featured food truck at a little fall festival in a pretty well-known resort/subdivision in Gordonsville. My husband and I had the catfish sandwich, which was pretty good, save for the 45+ minute wait, during which nobody in line was informed if this was normal, if something was going on, etc. He had the potato wedges, which were great; I had the fries which were bland. Maybe the owner was having an off day because all of the reviews I’ve read mention her hospitable personality that didn’t seem to exist today; in fact, she was downright rude – but we all have our days. I would be inclined to write a better review if it weren’t for later seeing the owner/cook smoking a cigarette inside of the truck, which would be gross even after operating hours, but was actually happening during them. It’s not a smoking thing – my husband is a smoker – but is something that is completely unsanitary and wouldn’t be acceptable in any kitchen from McDonald’s to a Michelin-star restaurant. In addition to our own experience, my friend recounted a time where after ordering mac & cheese from this truck that would stop at her work some days, she called to let the owners know that she had found a bobby pin with hair attached to it in her food. She was met with “what do you want me to do about it? Accidents happen.”

Decent food or not, a lack of customer service and sanitation will lead me to never again order here nor recommend it as a vendor.

Just had Ms. Barbara’s food for the first time. So glad we stopped. Authentic southern food. The catfish was crispy and juicy. The salad was fresh, crunchy, and loaded with veg. The mac’n’cheese was like homemade. She carries frog legs! Those are almost impossible to find. The breading was delicate and crispy and the meat was perfectly cooked and delicious. If you want a southern homemade meal without cooking, go to Barbara’s. We will be back!

Chicken Livers are delicious and Frog Legs are GOOD. I would definitely recommend Barbara’s for GOOD decent food. It is better than the other Chicken place in the Town of Orange.

Great food truck. This is NOT $1 fast food snacks and it’s NOT pre-done (so you’ll wait 5+ minutes). I got a catfish sandwich and the catfish was easily enough for 3 sandwiches. She hand-breads it on-site and it’s fresh. It was super! Catfish was I think $9; other things were pretty-much all $5-$10. A have-to stop!
