Get there early, they line up at the door to get in! Food was amazing! Nice spot on the water to watch boats and sea-Doos pass by. Great menu, lots of drinks choices. This will be a yearly visit when we’re in Florida. Service a tad slow, waitress not attentive. If not for that I would give Barbara Jean’s 5 stars for everything else.

We found it on yelp with a good rating and it was even better. 5stars! Crab cakes the best….ever. Fried green tomatoes great. The bread pudding- personally I like more rum and no chocolate chips. But that’s my preference. lol. Very nice staff. Go early and beat the rush.

My sister and I went here after seeing an advertisement on a flyer at Beach museum. So glad we went. The people who work there were very pleasant and kind. The outdoor deck was so beautiful on the water, but a little to chili. We sat inside but still had a nice view of the water. I had the chicken fried steak with broccoli rice casserole. They were both delicious. The casserole was made with coconut milk which gave a delicious flavor. My sister had the fried chicken tenders with honey mustard w which was made in house and delicious. Highly recommend

My wife and I rarely visit a restaurant more than once on vacation because we like to try different places out. Barbara Jeans is definitely an exception! We love their food. My wife says they’re here favorite crab cakes and I really enjoy the grilled tuna steaks. We went over 30 minutes out of our way to eat here heading to Daytona Beach. We’ve also been to their location at St Simons Island. Both locations have excellent food.

Absolutely amazing experience. The customer service was top-notch and the owner personally greeted us and took the time to chat, which made us feel right at home. The food was delicious across the board. The country fried steak was perfectly cooked, and the house made breads were outstanding especially the jalapeño cornbread and the pumpkin bread. Don’t miss the coconut shrimp either they’re huge, flavorful shrimp cooked to perfection. Everything we tried was fantastic. Highly recommend this place. Will be back again.

Came in for lunch on a weekday, getting there around 12:30PM it wasn’t busy at all. I asked about sitting on the deck and she said it would be a 25 min wait (but there were only a few tables sat out there and so many more available), so we opted to sit inside, where more than ¾ of the dining room was vacant. She said it would be a 5 min wait. OK, so we waited, assuming we needed to wait for a table to get up, as they didn’t have enough servers to manage another table being sat. That wasn’t it at all, she just went back to standing at the host stand and we all stood around. No one left and then about 10 mins later she took us to the table she previously said we were going to get. This delay made no sense at all.
Once sat, we waited several minutes for our server to come and the first question we asked was what the fish of the day was. She said as of the morning they hadn’t announced one yet. Well, it’s now afternoon, so we asked if that’s been updated. She said she didn’t know. We asked her if she could ask. She rolled her eyes and walked away. She came back saying it was red snapper, so we each ordered. My colleague also ordered an unsweeted tea but asked for sweetener. She dropped off the tea and never came back. I noticed this and went looking for sweetener, finding a busboy I asked him if he had any. He said he wasn’t sure and had to go check. He came back with a few packs of Sweet n Low. (Not sure why service has been such a challenge thus far!)
Once the food came, it was all very good. The crab cake was decent, but odd that they flatten it out so much when grilling it on the flat top. I’m from the DC area and we simply make them into a patty, sauté and that’s it. The buffalo shrimp was really nicely done. The best was the blackened red snapper – fresh and perfectly spiced and cooked. It wasn’t dry, it was moist and very tasty. Their broccoli rice casserole was excellent too. And those red beans and rice, though not the thick, traditional NOLA style, were spiced nicely and tasty as well.
This could have easily been a 5 star meal, as the food was really good… but it’s a 2 star total visit when taking into account the terrible service.

Sooooo I have been all over Maine and the east coast. I tried so many lobster rolls up there… Tell my why this little place had the best Lobster roll I’ve ever had?! It was phenomenal. We also had a beautiful view of the water. Everything was great including the service!

I honestly don’t even know where to start—this experience was that good.
My sister-in-law and brother live in Jacksonville, and this is her favorite restaurant. They brought me here, and now I completely understand why. I have zero negative or even constructive feedback. It was a solid 10 out of 10!
From the moment we walked in, everything was five stars: the friendly greeter, the attentive servers, the incredible food and drinks, the cozy indoor space and breezy outdoor seating—it all felt perfect. The vibes were immaculate.
I almost always order shrimp and grits when I’m dining out, mostly because I don’t even try to make them myself. I’ll admit I’m pretty particular, but this plate of shrimp and cheesy grits was hands-down the best I’ve ever had—and I’ve had some great ones. I mean cheesy grits, not just grits with cheese sprinkled on top. There’s a real difference, and they nailed it. The portion was hearty and satisfying, too.
Now let’s talk about that bread basket everyone raves about. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it blew me away. A variety of breads—not the usual standard mix—and every single one I tried was delicious. I also had an alcoholic drink that was perfectly crafted and matched the meal beautifully.
Honestly, I’m just over here hoping Barbara Jean will consider opening a location in Indianapolis. We need this kind of flavor and experience up here.
I forgot! Please get the key lime pie!!!!
I CAME BACK TELLING MY BOYFRIEND THAT WE NEED TO TAKE A TRIP TO JACKSONVILLE JUST FOR BARBARA JEAN’S FOOD.

My personal first visit with others who have frequent visits. I hear usually spectacular. I ordered one of the specials. The grouper sandwich. Blackened. $25 i got a tiny piece of fish the was really ridiculous. Others at the table also had issues with what they ordered and what they received. They came back and the fish was honestly not much bigger. Im from Florida. I know what a grouper sandwich is. I didn’t even take a picture of my sandwich. I just couldn’t. The rest of the meal.was great! Loved the tuna and the Salata? Salad . Onion rings to die for. For real. I’ll try again for sure.

Chicken fried chicken was very good and the service was excellent. The water view was very relaxing, however I felt the interior was really due for a upgrade.
