A hidden gem in the heart of downtown Cedar Falls – Bar Winslow tucked inside the Black Hawk Hotel – a treasure.

I have gone to Bar Winslow for every menu since mid-2020, and I am such a fan that Joe I partner with them via my business. The speakeasy vibes, the unique cocktail combinations, and comfy, cosy vibes are immaculate, and I think the place especially comes alive during jazz nights. This hotel is a gem and Bar Winslow is the sparkle.

People with allergies: Beware!
Tonight I went to Bar Winslow with a group of friends to celebrate. While there a friend offered to buy me a drink. I read through the menu looking for a drink that could accommodate my allergies, to which I thought I found. When I ordered my drink I had to step outside the room as citrus was being used for other drinks (very normal for me to have to do) but then my friend saw lemon being put into my drink and looked at me and said “Is there lemon in your drink?” And I said “Oh no, there shouldn’t be its not listed on the menu” and the bartender said “but there is” and I said ” But it doesnt say that in the ingredients?” To which he replied “Well there is”. This was not only a rude experience but an incredibly dangerous one. What is the point of listing what is in the drink and picking and choosing what to include on the menu but serving people whatever you want. This is incredibly irresponsible and I was honestly shocked by the response of the bartender and the condescension that I was spoken down too with. Unless my friend had caught that we all would have an had incredibly bad night, bar staff included. I hope in the future you list ALL ingredients on your menu or none at all if it is expected to ask because listing the ingredients gives the implication that ALL ingredients are listed. Reviewing places is my hobby and I hate to have to leave a bad review but this was the worst bar experince I have ever had and I do not recommend this place if what matters on the menu is important to you and your well being. If you are able to drink anything then I’m sure you’ll have a better time than I did.

You’ll always be happy that you decided to stop at Bar Winslow. From the attentive and friendly staff, to the always-excellent cocktails, this is our hands-down favorite place to wind down. Personal attention to detail (see the photo in honor of our anniversary) and the best atmosphere in town make this a must-visit venue for locals and visitors alike!

Tyler was both amazing and accommodating. His knowledge, charisma and skill created a memorable experience. There was also Amy(whom was training behind the bar)also provided plenty of humor and engaging conversation. If you enjoy grapefruit, you must try “Salty Dog.”

By far the best bar in Iowa, a hidden gem! Tyler, our bar tender is a master of his craft and was happy to make off the menu drinks for me!! Some very “tasty treats”. My favorite place for finishing a wonderful evening!

What an awesome experience!! We stayed at the hotel and had this amazing bar nestled inside. Gorgeous, historic and so classy. The bartender was super friendly and talented. Every drink was perfectly made. My favorite by far! Especially since the drinks are made Taylor Swift themed
