Overall, the food was good, but nothing truly surprised me or felt so memorable that I couldn’t imagine finding something comparable elsewhere.

As many people recommended, the arancini, chickenn croquettes, and the butter ricotta gnocchi were standouts. In particular, the butter ricotta gnocchi was enjoyable because it’s not something you come across very often, which made it feel more special. That said, the overall atmosphere of the restaurant wasn’t particularly distinctive. If I were to return, it would likely be for the gnocchi rather than the experience as a whole.

We had an amazing dinner. The food and drinks were fantastic. We were there for the dine out Boston. The restaurant was packed. The service was really slow. We were there for 3 hours from when we sat down to when we left, which was a little annoying. I absolutely loved the crudo, my swordfish skewer entree and the house made pistachio gelato.

Came back in Sep’24 with a large group!

Overall, flavors were good. Ambiance is nice.

I believe food came out a bit slower than expected…but everyone had a good time!

Definitely on the pricier side.

Street parking only I believe. We took an uber.

I only enjoyed two dishes here but from their presentation and taste I can tell that every dish is made with love and a chef’s kiss.

I enjoyed the gnocchi and spaghetti Al limone and I was filled with glee with each bite. The gnocchi was pillowy and in a delicate sauce. The caviar was a nice add but didn’t feel like it was necessary and the dish would still have been enjoyable without it. The spaghetti al limone was heavenly – light, delicate and rich. A simple dish yet the simplest dishes are often the hardest to execute and this one was executed to perfection. A dish that should not be overlooked. The dish left me speechless … I am so glad I ordered it.

Excellent wine and drinks list. Try the wines from Piedmont. Everything compliments each other from food to drinks.

Staff is welcoming and friendly. Sophisticated interior design. Everything makes you feel a part of something special here and that in life you got to treat yourself, be in community and share a meal or drink with someone.

If you are a top chef fan you can’t miss adding Chef Karen A. to the list of top chef restaurants you must go to. Everything that Chef Karen creates is truly special.

WOW. 10/10 worth the hype. Menu highlights were the tuna cannoli and the sausage entree, and we tried most things on the menu. For dessert, we got the tiramisu and affogato float, which was amazing. The drinks were also super fun and delicious, the la carina was delicious and unique. Service was super friendly and attentive, and we were seated at a cozy booth. Beautiful interior.

Went here for Dine Out Boston week after hearing lots of positive reviews. Was very underwhelmed with the experience.

Standouts: the chicken croquettes and the farro arancini.
Duds: the tiramisu and the sorbet.

Why I wouldn’t return: Ordered the Fazzoletti (with chicken and marsala) dish for my entrée – and received what was essentially a less brothy chicken noodle soup. The server described it as a “Southern Italian style,” but it bore no resemblance to any marsala-related dish I’ve had. Looked unappetizing enough that I let them know I’d take it “to go.” Spending over $100 and leaving without consuming a real entrée is wild in my opinion.

Amazing food, you can taste the care, art, and quality. Elevated Italian food in Boston. Service was good. Cocktails were just okay but I good wine selection.

One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had! Exceptional food, phenomenal wine list, great and friendly service! The spaghetti al limone with Jonah crab was perfect, best tiramisu I’ve ever had! Can’t recommend it more, I came to celebrate an academic achievement and will definitely will come back!

We came to Bar Volpe last Saturday night for an 8pm reservation on a double date. Our friends arrived a little earlier and sat at the bar where they asked about the Restaurant Week menu, only to be told that it isn’t offered on Saturdays. That felt a bit confusing since there was nothing during the reservation process that indicated that restriction, and the restaurant definitely isn’t inexpensive. It came across as a bit of a bait and switch.

That said, the food itself was very good. The pasta dishes were excellent and the wine was great as well. The mushroom toast was tasty, though $9 for a single piece of toast felt a bit steep.

Service overall was pretty good. Our after dinner drinks took a little while to arrive, and because we had a later reservation we did start to feel a bit rushed toward the end of the meal, especially with staff sitting in nearby booths which made it seem like the night was wrapping up.

The ambiance was nice overall, though a few lights being out made the room feel a little dim in spots. Also in 2026 we should be moving back to paper towels in the bathroom instead of air dryers.

Overall I’d give it about 3.5 to 4 stars. The food was genuinely good and I’m glad we tried it, but the Restaurant Week confusion and the sense of being rushed at the end took away from the experience. Since it’s across town for us, I’m not sure we’d rush back, but it was still a solid meal.

We ordered Tea Party cocktail, truffle roast chicken, culurgiones, riccotta gnocchi, farro arancini, tiramisu and cannoli. The pasta and chicken was good. Deserts not so much. Paid over $150.
