I stumbled into Bar Snack on a weekday afternoon with no reservation, just 3 friends and no agenda. What we found was a casual bar that punches above its weight: elevated cocktails in an approachable East Village setting that’s equal parts neighborhood hangout and destination spot.
Bar Snack has already earned serious accolades, from landing spots on lists of the city’s best bars to being celebrated as one of New York’s top drinking destinations. The interior leans into a retro, wood-lined warmth, giving the space a relaxed, lived-in feeling that invites conversation and lingering.
We opted for three different cocktails, and while none completely blew our minds, each was well-composed and enjoyable. All 3 drinks were creative twists on classics that show the thoughtful hand behind the bar. This is the kind of place where drinks are meant to be savored, not rushed.
We also shared the snack bag, a casual mix of chicken tenders, fries, peppers, and an egg. It hit the mark as satisfying bar fare, though a touch more seasoning would elevate it further. The accompanying dipping sauce helped pull the components together, and overall it paired nicely with the cocktails.
Service on a midweek afternoon was excellent: attentive and friendly without ever feeling rushed. The atmosphere was easygoing and convivial, the kind of place where strangers chat over drinks and everyone feels at home.
Bar Snack isn’t about shock-and-awe theatrics. It’s about solid drinks, good company, and a vibe that makes you want to stay for one more round. I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars , and I’ll almost certainly return to explore more of the menu next time.

A great little bar, perfect for date night or hanging out with some friends. The food menu looks interesting and fun with a good variety of different things. The cocktails are delicious, with the split ends being my favorite but the tree top maid delicious also. It’s creative, it’s fun.

Haven’t given a full 5 in a while.
-This bar is cleanly dressed with lovely wood throughout.
-The barkeep was wonderful. Polite. Educated in cocktails.
-The menu was great. Drinks. Light bites and more.
I was lucky to enjoy a chill Sunday as a lot of the time this place is packed.
-This is a must try!

I absolutely loved this place. I didn’t try the food therefore I can’t rate it. This is a sexy and trendy bar yet it is unpretentious. Even the bathroom is cute. The Cocktails are amazing and creative. They have a good happy hour. Timmy is a great bartender, very helpful in describing the nuances of the drinks. I will definitely be back.

An incredible bar — but what truly sets it apart is the staff. Emma welcomed us the moment we walked in with genuine warmth and enthusiasm. Her drink recommendations were spot-on, and well-made. Beyond her skill behind the bar, Emma creates an atmosphere that feels inviting and effortless. It makes all the difference when someone truly cares about the guest experience, and Emma embodies that completely. We’ll absolutely be back — especially when she’s behind the bar.

To start bouncer was extremely nice while we waited for a spot, everyone inside is seated or had a spot to stand which I appreciate. Additionally the bouncer was transparent about the wait but not in a rude manner at all. When we sat, by the bar owner who was so nice, the service was great, drinks were reasonably priced and really good, and overall atmosphere was so fun. We really enjoyed!

Interesting and creative cocktails, and surprisingly they brought me a nostalgic experience! I really like The Split Ends: although it tastes exactly like the stomach medicine that I grew up with when it entered my mouth, the refreshing fragrance of raspberry lingered in my mouth, which was a pleasant experience. Boat Snack Martini is also interesting because it tastes like a dish from my hometown, which is a chicken stew with salt and sweet rice spirit.
Timmy and Emma were also very nice and friendly.

WOW. The whole bar is incredible. Best place to dance in, especially if you’re alone and intend to dance alone. The whole team is amazing. But I only remember Emma’s name (oh ok and Alex’s). Because she is a shining STAR IN A SNOWY, DARK NYC. Five MILLION STARS TO YOU, EMMA. And Alex
