What an amazing experience that I had at Restaurante Urca. This restaurant is very popular in Rio. It is located in the charming Urca neighborhood, right on Rua Cândido Gaffrée. The setting is unbeatable; whether you’re sitting inside with large windows or out along the water’s edge, you get sweeping views of the bay, Sugarloaf Mountain. I prefer sitting outside along the water’sedge – the waterfront views are stunning, particularly during the sunset, an authentic experience.
The foods are fresh and delicious – the menu celebrates Brazilian and Portuguese influences. The portions are generous, flavors authentic, and ingredients feel fresh. The seafood especially shines.
The service was friendly, attentive, and accommodating, even when the place was crowded.
The atmosphere is relaxed and perfect for a night out with friends or a romantic dinner.
This place has my highest recommendation – from the moment you arrive, the combination of warm service, fresh food, and spectacular views of Guanabara Bay make it a must-visit.
Suggestions:
1- Because it’s popular, arrive early to avoid long waits and crowds, or reserve ahead if you want a nice table.
2- Try the takeaway option and sit on the harbor wall for breathtaking views.

Very nice lunch place with beautiful view towards beaches and the boats on the water. Food was delicious. We liked everything we ordered. Service was friendly, good and quick. We’ll go back here.

We came here not knowing it is a landmark for food. We enjoyed their pies, pasteis, and lunch options at the restaurant. The waiters were very friendly and attentive. It is an unassuming place, comfortable and relaxing. A full wall features dedications written by famous people. Metallica’s been here.

There is a dine in restaurant and a take out counter. We ordered from the takeout counter and went across the street to eat. There really were no tables or chairs, instead people used the sea wall as both. The take out counter has the usual fried pastries, but you can also order more entree type dishes. We tried something that was like a thick shrimp chowder served with rice and a fish Milanese, which was fried fish pieces with rice and a cole slaw like salad. I would say the food tasted fine, nothing to rave about necessarily. I think people go to socialize with friends, grab a drink and casual bite with the bay/water as the backdrop.

Good food but long waits. Classic atmosphere, many people come here either to eat in the restaurant or to grab some thing to eat and drink and stand by the water. The views are amazing and the different meals are fun to explore.

We came to this restaurant because of a recommendation from a local we met at the Urca beach. This was the best restaurant since our visit to Rio. The fish was fresh and the stew was just right, not too salty or fried. A lot of food near Copacabana is either too salty or fried and we wanted something good. I would highly recommend this restaurant and would go back here the next time I’m in Rio.

We got seated immediately for a table of 6. We ate Bobo and Moqueca. Both were packed with flavour and we were all very full. Service was polite and quick.

I try to go to this restaurant every time I visit Rio. Urca is one of my favorite neighborhoods and this a cool restaurant with great views and more chill vibes. The food and service were amazing.

Food and service ok. Pumpkin with shrimp is tasty, although a bit heavy. The price is a bit high considering the number of shrimps in the dish. An atmospheric place worth visiting.
