Social Profile:

Spanish-inspired & wood-fired plates pair with an award winning wine and cocktail bar in an airy, old-world dining room & patio. Our motto is simple: Cooking the perfect ingredient over hard wood creates the best tasting food. Bar Casa Vale focuses on recreating the tapas bars of Barcelona, Sherry bodegas in Jerez, and Pintxo crawls through San Sebastian all right here in Portland. We proudly use local ingredients: seafood from the pacific ocean, meats from pastures surrounding Portland, and vegetables from local gardens.

Spanish-influenced foods pair with a vast sherry menu in an airy, old-world dining room & patio.

This is the place. This is the place to catch up with your best friends. This is the place for some cocktails and delightful plates. This is the place to enjoy special occasions. We happened to be doing all of the above. I think we sat a table for over two hours and tried nearly everything on the menu, asking for cocktails and wine along the way. Tapas is always a good meal with friends and Bar Casa Vale rewarded us for choosing them over and over. Who knew I liked oysters – Bar Casa Vale did, that’s why they serve them grilled over a wood fire and with compound butter. Who knew my (very worldly) friends would find the Pan con tomate so endearing we’d have to order it twice? The corn made my partner exclaim with joy that he never knew corn could be so special and I could happily have devoured all of the hand rolled cous cous with grilled brussels All the way along we had quiet, helpful, personable service that added to our delight. We are so so happy we decided to bring our four-way birthday hear.

A great tapas restaurant!! We went with 4 people and ordered 7 dishes, fried cauliflower, salad, potatoes, mussels, pork ribs, hanger steak, paella. All were so good (I didn’t have steak and pork, but my friends confirmed they were very good). Paella could have a little bit more rice but the crispy bottom was so good. Desserts were excellent too. Service was spot on the wine I chose was nice too. It has nice size parking lot. Seating areas are consistent of interior room and two attached domed area with plenty of heating. We sat in inside seats but domed area with fire was an another attractive choice. I will return to this restaurant in the future for sure.

I enjoyed the food and even had a couple of dishes I’ve never eaten before. Service was good and most staff had a smile. They all seemed knowledgeable about the dishes and drinks. I highly recommend the Bourbon Reign for fellow bourbon enthusiasts. I wasn’t entirely impressed with the seafood paella as it was a bit dry and under-seasoned, but the croquetas were fantastic. The atmosphere was fine but a little too much street noise and we had to park across from a homeless camp. Still, a good place to visit.

Great outdoor space, really good food, and amazing Spanish wine and sherry list. Pan con tomate, grilled romaine salad, and decent paella. GREAT bottle of Rioja!

As a Spaniard, this is a really bad experience on Spanish food. Croquetas were so salty you could have a heart attack, same with pan and tomate. Exactly the opposite with the peppers, they needed some salt on top. Octopus is good but sooo overcooked. And the seafood paella… It wasn’t burned Spanish socarrat style, the actual pan was so burned that you could only taste the iron, and the “black” rice was only black on top, how is that even possible! Very negative experience, if you understand Spanish food.

The food and service was great. They have some fantastic vegan and vegetarian options. The staff was very attentive to our party ensuring our water glasses were always full and ready to take our orders if there was anything else we wanted.

Very good food and very nice place and service. But the recipes are not the original from Spain. Even do, recommended

Delicious food and friendly, laid back staff. The servers and food runners all helped each other out which I loved! We had a great anniversary dinner here and will definitely be back again. It is pricey though!
